Hidden Treasure Misunderstanding, sorry, I was referring to Jonatha Brooke, not Shawn, when I mentioned ballet dancing.
Hidden Treasure Thanks everyone for the ideas, I have ordered two of them.My suggestion,Jonatha Brooke, any album at all.I saw her on a whim a few years ago and along with Shawn Colvin, it was one of the best concerts I've been to. great songwriter and voice, sin...
Cleanest CD recording to test with Great thread, here are my choices: Mark Murphy, Love is what it Says Sara K, Waterfalls, on Stockfisch,Both just grab you with the first bar and you know you will always love the CD. To qualify that, the first track on Waterfalls is a recording o...
Chord Qutest I'm interested in the Qutest too. I don't quite understand the discussion of power cables. I thought it had a micro USB power supply. There has been discussion of using upgraded power supplies, but the company is emphatic, that they will not help ...
yggdrasil dac and Innous Zenith MK2 I'm not sure that's fair cortes, no magazine can be 100% trusted, because of commercial pressures, but reviewing on the basis of country of origin? HiFiNews is very enthusiastic about US products, particularly ARC and Wilson of course.OldSchool, I...
yggdrasil dac and Innous Zenith MK2 I asked the company at a show, what was their favourite DAC under £2000, to match the Zenith. they had no second thoughts, the newish Chord Qutest. I've heard them together and the sound is excellent. This months HiFi News, a UK mag, reviewed the ...
For those of us over 60.. Over 60, youngsters, some of us won't see 70 again. Not very original, but the Beatles of course, with Joni Mitchell as a solo artist. She got me through the teenage angst, just.
Music Server - The Search Begins I'm beginning to bore myself, but consider the Innuos server. It sounds great to me and there is a range of price points, I chose the Zenith, which uses an SSD. I've got 2400 + CDs on it so far and 1TB is 86% full. Ripping is fast and very easy. I...
ARC Ref 75se owners I've had no problems over 4 years, I think it is. A wonderful amp that is not going to be changed. I can't afford to anyway, now I'm retired. I have to say I don't crank up the volume, I have neighbours. As JohnnyR implies, the tubes have the repu...
Favourite Opera Recordings I think the Solti has always been my favourite Ring Cycle. I have the Karajan cycle, a wonderful Christmas present from a friend a few years ago, when he was cutting right back on his vinyl.
Whats playing on your system today? Phantom Limb, Self titled album Had this CD for a while but never played it. A small Bristol group with a wonderful female lead singer. Described as a mixture of Country, Gospel and blues, but who cares, it's just a beautiful sounding album
Wilson Audio Sabrina . . . I'm smitten. Should I consider others? I have to say, as a long term non Wilson fan, I loved the Sabrina when I heard them first and on several further occasions. I use an ARC ref 75SE and the Sabrina sound perfect with ARC amps, IMHO. I am still not a Magico fan, a defect in my charac...
Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking? Being retired, I'm done upgrading anyway, but more by luck than judgement, have ended up with a system I'm happy to stay with till it breaks, or I fall off my perch. TW Accustic Raven one Turntable, Ortofon 309D armInnuos Zenith ServerMagnum Dynal...

Music Server Recommendation Another vote for Innuos. It is good value and easy to rip, a big plus over some more expensive competitors, such as Aurender. There seems no point using a Server, then adding a NAS, particularly if it doesn't use SSD storage. So if you need 4 TB's... |
