speaker placement in a tough room, please help. Thanks Rives, the room has a continuous slope from low to high. The room will be used as a dedicated room, I'm a little worried about how small it is, but these days in S.Cal the price of the room makes the equipment price seem almost inconsequential.
benz ruby Used to own the Ruby, now own the Ruby 2. In a nutshell, the original Ruby, circa 1990 had an output of 0.2mv, while the Ruby 2 has 0.3mv. The Ruby 2 is a little more resolving and airy in the top end. According to Garth the new Ruby 2 is a biig im...
Best Phono stage for a .3 mv Ruby 2 ? I use my Ruby 2 with the CAT signature phono stage. Seems like a match made in heaven, the Ruby likes to be loaded down to about 700 ohms,IMHO much airier and resolving than at the standard 47K.Plenty of gain with the CAT, even had enough gain wit...
Has anyone heard the Usher Audio Speakers Heard these a couple of months ago. Sorry can't remember which model, but it had the Thiel ceramic drivers and a 10"bass driver. Sound was truly exceptional, great imaging with a high end that was smooth and non-fatiguing.The bass was good down to ...

Am I the only one who thinks B&W is mid-fi? Perhaps you never heard the original Nautilus speaker.:0)IMHO one of the best sounding speakers ever made.Completely blew away my Wilson's !Would have bought them in a minute if I had the scratch.

has anyone actually heard the decapos ??? HEARD THE DE CAPOS A COUPLE OF MO'S AGO. THEY ARE PRETTY AMAZING SPEAKERS. WHAT THEY DO, THEY DO BETTER THAN ALMOST ANY SPEAKER I HAVE HEARD. IMAGING, DYNAMICS, TOP END EXTENSION, SEEMLESS INTEGRATION OF DRIVERS. NO REAL BOTTOM END AND NOT REALLY ...
Advice on Jeff Rowland 8Ti You might want to hear an earlier version with the choke power supply, if you can feed it with clean AC then you might prefer the sound to the more recent versions with the dual mono supply. What speakers are you planning on driving with the 8?
Tube preamp with Rowland Model 8 I REALLY LIKE MY CAT SIGNATURE WITH MY MODEL 8. IMHO THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, TUBE IN THE PRE-AMP AND SS IN THE AMP STAGE. IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY, TRY THE CAT SIG'S OR THE ULTIMATE, I THINK YOU WILL LIKE THE MATCH.
Tube Preamp for Rowland 8Ti I like the CAT sig or ultimate with the Model 8. My 8/Sig combo sounds like they were made for each other. IMHO.
Anyone Switch from Electrostatic/Planar to Dynamic In the old days I had Maggies and also Acoustat 3's ( modded with better caps etc) changed over to Hales Sig 2's and have never looked back. When it comes to dynamics, stat's and planars just lag IMHO. Once you hear a great dynamic speaker, the li...
Zoethecus amp stand The zoethecus amp stand is a nice addition if you are looking for an amp stand.Mine replaced a sound anchor, which is also good, but the zoethecus is a great piece.
Hales System II Signature Help Sought. Sknnyc, I'm afraid I do not know were you can replace the spikes, however, I have tried both Harmonix footers and Black Diamond racing cones under the Sig's and they both work well. The Footers especially are a good way to go.
Anyone upgrade a Jeff Rowland Model 8 Cornfedboy, one of the interesting things about these upgrades is that I am unsure that all are worth while. I have only heard the dual mono upgrade(transformer) and this was actually a step backwards IMHO. The dynamics of the amp was severly redu... |
