Where can I buy Krell FPB 400CX used amp?
My local dealer has a pair of mint FPBM350c amps he would sell fairly cheap...trade in from an estate.
totem rainmakers
Hi, I've owned most of the Totem lineup over the years...I'm a musician (or was before fatherhood)as well and I know what Mechans is talking about. Totem speakers just sound more alive and full of energy...almost physical! Many a 6 figure system h...
Help experienced audiophiles
You have to try Transparent....the only cable that will WOW you immediately and make you realize that you have been living in a cable wasteland!
new sophia 2 + MC , little agressive. Break-in?
They are not harsh or bright fellows...they are revealing. Best cables to use are Transparent with Wilson speakers. I had the Mac stuff and found it veiled and slightly grey sounding...as compared to tonaly complex and colorful like some other tub...
Transparent or Nordost?
Stick with Transparent...you will regret it if you give them up:)
Interconnects
Listen to some Tramsparent cables if you can and MIT matrix....whole different level of realism. Makes Nordost sound like nails on a chalk board:)
Big, big room -- which 10-20k speakers?
Yeah, I tend to agree with the idea that if your seriously sticking with that gear?....well, don't bother going down the road with that speaker list! To truly eek out the performance from them you will need tons of cash beyond just the speakers to...
Big, big room -- which 10-20k speakers?
See all the suggestions your getting? BIG ROOM...BIG PROBLEMS!! I had one and moved to a smaller room and system. If it's all about moving air for dance music and the like, then just get JBL K's or something. To enjoy the subtelty and texture of t...
Interconnects
Source first...everything else follows. That said, I purchased what I knew from prior systems would be my best links between my pre and main amp and amp to speakers. It's all in the synergy:)
B&W PM1
Yes, they are truly musical speakers with exceptional balance. Usually I would have traded or sold them by now...not this time!
Advice on stand mount speakers
Totem Arrow (limited dynamic range), Totem Forest (superb, dynamic and play low but need power and treble is tipped up) or the new B&W PM1's wt stands...power required but they are in the same league as my Wilson WP6's, just smaller scale. I'v...
How to get the impact of a live concert?
The real thing is the real thing, but short of that there are many ways to achieve good results. First of all, you must realize that everything matters when it comes to optimizing a system...amp, speakers, cables, room, PC's etc..! Budget will nar...
Your jaw dropping cables
They are ALL just wires with minor variations in performance compared to MIT. The newest Matrix HD series is stunningly musical with extreme low level detail and tonality beyond reproach. Most of all it presents the music as a living breathing org...
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan
Owned the Oppo 95 as well as many competetive players along with several High End players and found the Oppo 95 to be uniquely unlistenable to me. I am a 2 channel guy and I must say it had a very strong signature DSP style sound that overlayed ev...
Amplifier for Totem Forest
I used a 200w/ch Krell amp with the Forest's and they suckked up every last ounce I could give them. When lesser power was used, they still sounded ok, but they will absolutely come alive and thrill you when fed alot of good clean power. For tube ...
