Amp upgrade from Bryston 4B I believe some say the 14B sounds better. Don't hold me to that, however. According to Bryston, the 7B has more capacitance than the 14B, plus you can run shorter speaker cable, always a plus in my book.
Grey amplifier Imports from Japan? Hi Paul,Thanks for sharing your story. you are very knowledgeable about Accuphase products, and you probably know more than the distributor! As for grey market units, of course they are, because they're not making a big profit off of them. That's pr...
Grey amplifier Imports from Japan? Hi Renjy651,Good information there. It doesn't sound like it's that big of a job, and certainly keeps it out of the hands of incompetent "techs."I see a website called Audio Cubes II that has Accuphase equipment listed. Are they reputable or no?
Grey amplifier Imports from Japan? That's cool and all, but why are these units (both brands) 2-3 times the price than in Japan. I understand dollar to yen, tariffs, duty, taxes, and so on and so forth. But, this has to be profit driven. Big profits, I would think...
Rock? Ok, let's examine.. ACDC Great song, and good choice!
Grey amplifier Imports from Japan? True, however, are these sites to be trusted? Even though the price is a lot less, you're still dealing with a lot of money here.
The Worst Speaker you have ever heard. Hi Adam,Thanks, I appreciate that. It's times like those that almost make you wanna get out of this hobby. Yes I am, and thankfully so.Likewise!
Budget system for Rock and dance Music? I'd go for Axioms over Tekton.
The Worst Speaker you have ever heard. Hi Adam,Well, if they cost you $7000, which anyway you slice it, isn't chump change, and lost a lot of money on the deal, you would feel the same way.Anyway, yes I did audition them, but it was very briefly @ CES '93. Yes, I did make a mistake by ...
The Worst Speaker you have ever heard. Ensemble (made in Switzerland) mini monitors...dreadful. This was back in '94.They had excellent reviews in both TAS and Stereophile. Mid/woofer made out of what looked like a styrofoam cup. It was driven by FM Acoustics amp and preamp, so that wa...
Accuphase E-460 or Bryston BP26 / 4Bsst2 I would agree. You pretty much nailed it. Accuphase is in a higher league than most other brands out there. And that includes Bryston. I own Bryston, but have auditioned Accuphase quite well, and there's really no contest. The Accuphase wins in ev...
Accuphase E-460 or Bryston BP26 / 4Bsst2 Accuphase by a mile. But you really need to choose which one sounds best to you. Because ultimately, you're the one who's gotta live with it.
Amp upgrade from Bryston 4B Can you get to one out of your area? Pass Labs is a nice friendly company that'll steer you in the right direction if need be.Imo, the XA100.5 will blow away the 7/14B SST2.
Amp upgrade from Bryston 4B Hi Hasse,As a matter of fact I have, not side by side though.Anyway, the Pass Labs Class A amps are arguably better built, are more musical, and are more dynamic. I believe they can drive lower impedances better too.If you have a Pass Labs dealer ...
Amp upgrade from Bryston 4B Spectron...looks interesting. But, it can't be better than a Class A amp, true? |
