If you had access to a time machine, what concerts would you go back to see?
Surround sound Dark Side of The Moon at Hollywood (FL) Sportatorium would certainly be at the top of my list.  At times, the sounds were circling in both directions, from stereo from the main stage, stereo in the rear, and full range speakers...
Would This Amp Be Worth The Cost?
greywolf  Upon a bit more pondering, I don't think those are not even good specs.  The THC is not even with a full range signal, and double my Audires. The frequency respoonse is down a decibel at 20,000 cps, vs my 1- 100,000 cps that is flat to w...
Would This Amp Be Worth The Cost?
greywolf  As far as pure stats go, not one spec you cite beats my 30 plus year old Audire amps and preamps.  ERGO:  That would not be the reason to change.  I would certainly presume this amp sounds better than my relics, but I did have some very ...
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
By far, my worst concert was The Police at U of Tenn's middle sized basketball arena, The Stokely Center.  The 12700 seats were supplamented by floor seats, and it was packed.  I was never a The Police fan, but was given the tickets.  It was not j...
Trying to understand B&W’s trickle down strategy
The 800 series not only has the internal bracing and baffling to control resonances, but the drivers have bigger magnets with longer, matching voice coils.
Anyone else treated poorly by AVA?
"Over subcribed" sounds like "Give me your money and pray" to me.
What makes speaker's sound big?
A bit of harmonics can add up to a big sound.  I don't call it harmonic distortion, but some do.  Mt people like it. B&W aficionados try to hate added harmonics.  I add some to bad recordings by switching out my sub-woofer crossover.  The soun...
Schumann Resonator
This is nonsense, unless you can come up with a real explanation.  The green stripe around CD;s had an explanation as good as what you folks are saying, and it had its adherents.  Hydrogen atoms?   BS!  Hydrogen is so light that absolutely none of...
Paying with a cashiers check? Need advice!
Don't do it.  Ask your banker about placing some kind of hold on the money.
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
It just occurred to me that most people who dis B&W's (800 series) have only heard them on the terrible ROTEL equipment at Best Buy.  I agree that they are overpriced, but what isn't?  If you want to hear what B&W can do, go to am audio ex...
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had?
edcyn  I can't imagine getting rid of a Koetsu to track 45's better.  Jeez!
Single driver speakers. Are they worth considering ?
IMHO:  You might as well get  BOSE 901 monstrosities.  What could be better than 16 three inch speakers facing the back wall, and two facing the front?  Maybe a MegaBoom?  TeeHee
Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming?
I believe his record collection should be the determining factor.  If he just has a few, why bother?  If like me, he does not really care for the streaming algorhithms, go with the phono, and listen to the music he spent a lifetime collecting.
Is my anti-skating too strong.
My pal had a Grace badged Rega Planar 2, a Grace F9, and a Grace 747 arm.  In the info he had, Grace said to look at the cantilever as the record plays, then to adjust the anti-skate to make the cantilever stay as straight as possible.  This makes...
Teac NT-505 on Closeout by Walmart
I just checked,  The ad clearly states, "Sold and shipped by Onkyo USA". I really like my Onkyo CD player, and based on its performance, would guess that their integrated amp is pretty good.  Did they make the TEAC?
