Misconceptions of Speakers I am sorry if I am kicking a dead horse. I also apologize for my spelling. That should have been newsense. [:)]Charlie
Misconceptions of Speakers Onhwy61 and Sean are giving sage advice. I risk being a neusance here, but the BBC brainchild monitors like Harbeth and Spendor can be absolute heaven for some ears. Much like they both describe, not necessarily a head turner in the showroom. They...
Speakers for small room, near field I have a small room and listen in nearfield, as well. I am amazed at the performance of my Harbeth C7ES monitors. They evolved, like other BBC babies like Spendor, from the demands of sound engineers who spend hours in close quarters trying to (ho...
Misconceptions of Speakers Great comments here by all! This is what is the best part of this site. My only addition is please, please audition at home before purchase if possible. (Unless you buy some Harbeths! [:)] )
Thoughts from the Dark Side (ABX) Dekay, are you trying to get me in trouble? Man, I just went over 100 / 100 and was looking forward to Arnie's (slightly used) Bose Wave radio. I guess I won't get it after all.I reckon I ought to have someone on my staff open all mail packages fr...
Anyone heard the Toshiba EMI Pink Floyds The person I talked to today at Music Direct says that this is a Japanese mastering from the mid 90's. He reported that he had heard DSOM and Animals from this batch; while he prefered the MoFi DSOM, he liked Animals better than other versions he ...
Anyone heard the Toshiba EMI Pink Floyds Thanks, everybody. I will try to find out more. I had a hard time believing that Pink Floyd would have let anyone other than Steve Sax touch their master tapes, (from what I hear.) I have the Sax "Wish You Were Here" and it is very good. If this i...

Mid-Fi Amp/Preamp for Martin Logans Take a look at Quad. An amazing number of posters on the old Harbeth User's Site use them with the $6K Harbeth H40, which is kind of hard to drive. Quad also makes wonderful electrostats themselves, so they should work well. There are some great v...
Pet Stories Long, long ago, on a lake far, far away...I was on my friend's 32 foot sailboat with a Jack Russell terrier, named "Mate," who always remained on watch at the bowsprit. Under full sail, he would occaisonally be blown off, and we got quite good and...
Thanks to a fellow A-gon member You are more than welcome, sir.
small office speakers Are they going to be placed in a bookshelf? What typical volume will be used? Background music primarily, or do you jam while working? What are you going to listen to?
Headphone Amp for Portable CDP I use the Grado amp with a portable player, but with Grado phones. I thought I remembered the general consensus was that the Grado amp was not as good with the Sennheiser phones as with their models. I personally have not tried the combo. Good luck.
Thanks to a fellow A-gon member Thank you both for your kind words, maybe that will keep me from being excommunicated for the "over the top" Best Quote I left yesterday. Sd, I think I also said something about those Vandy drivers doing some moving of air with ol' Lyle and the Bo...
stan warren,PIONEER mod. I do not plan on using a toslink with the Supermods DVD player, as it will be used in a second system as a stand alone player. The toslink connection has been suggested as a way to reduce jitter, primarily to a dac. I have used three different tos... |
