Good Horn Speakers Of Moderate Size Interested in DIY? There are many, many options. Have a look at my horns for a sense of what can be done with some elbow grease, but you would be wise to set a budget. For example, my tweeters cost as much you have in your horns.
Music to soothe the mid-winter soul WOW! Reading through these selection it is no wonder you guys get depressed during winter. :-) Like Pops said, C'mon on man! Just take those old records off the shelfI'll sit and listen to them by myselfyou can fill in the rest. :-)
Dartzeel Phono Preamp? Believe it or not, separates can sound better than built-ins. It is all in the implementation.
New to TT's some advice questions It looks like you'll need an outboard phono stage as I didn't find any phono board option on the SimAudio P7. You may wish to consider spending 1/3 to 1/2 of your budget on this. It would also help to know what kinds of music you enjoy.
New Aerail 10T's Still have my 10ts! :-)
Solid State to Tubes and Back Again I go back and forth from SS to tubes and back again every time I move from my 2 channel system downstairs to my 5 channel system upstairs. No application of audiophile dogma here, one system uses 116 dB horns and one uses 84 dB box speakers.Gee, i...

MintLP Protractor Issue. Anyone else? Mark, the discoloration I see is definitely under the overlay. It looks like Yip scrapes this material away from the area around the null points, and at those points I see no discoloration. This is why I believe it is not the surface of the overlay...
MintLP Protractor Issue. Anyone else? I'll send Yip an email and ask him for input. He really is very friendly and helpful and approachable. I don't know why people don't just ask him. ;-)I have an older MintLP for my Triplanar that does show the material under the overlay has turned ...

Is speaker accuracy important for a rock speaker? it all comes down to 'noise'Much like your post.
Is speaker accuracy important for a rock speaker? Rock is NOT about volume, IMO. It is about room presence, which horns exceed at. I almost never run my horns above 85-90 dB, but you still feel the music in your chest.
Is speaker accuracy important for a rock speaker? Look for Klipsch horn speakers. They fit your budget and will give you butt kicking rock. Then you'll be able to sell that Bryston and run them on 25 watts or so, and they will sound better.
Is rack between speakers always less than ideal? I have tried moving my equipment to the side several times. I find the loss due to the longer ICs (balanced and single) makes that setup no good for me. So I always end up with my stuff between my speakers. I suppose it is a trade-off one way or t...
