demagnitizing CD s? Albert I think there are two types of Mag Lev trains in existence today (as far as I know) – one uses attractive magnetic forces and the other uses repulsive magnetic forces. Keep in mind that electricity and magnetism are forever linked together ...
Soundstage - Too much? PerfectImage ... This maybe a little late but here goes. To get a better handle on what reflections really mean in the sound space take a look at what F.Alton Everst says later in his book. Start on page 298 in Chapter 16 "Sound Reflections in enc...
Jeff Rowland amps, any coments? What happened to your Model 12s that caused you to send them back for repair? I am considering a Rowland 8Ti so any information about reliability is appreciated.
upsampling? Garfish, Agreed - Pick your semantics upsampling or oversampling. Hoe I didn't come off as upsampling was the only way to go. As far as dCS and Levinson is concerned, they are both great gear. Cheers - Dan
upsampling? I own the Delius and the Purcell. Listening at 24/192 spoils one very quickly. Even my wife can't stand listening at 16/44.1 anymore. If you have a chance to audition these two together - do it. dCS is also planning on releasing a new product late...
Best 3-way or 4-way speaker under $15K I would definitely recommend the Nautilus Series, especially the 801 if you have the room or the 802. I would also recommend the Revel Salon. I own the 802's and love them. Other speakers mentioned here are very very good. I will depend on your mu...
Shakti Stone? To see if the Stone is effective as anything other than a mass loading effect find an object the same weight as the stone and place it on the component in question. If the Stone has a real effect then you should be able to tell between the two. Ha...

Upgrade Time Again.... please help I must admit I enjoy the three dimensional sound stage that my tube amps give. But are you saying that all of the quality SS amps listed above will not give a large deep soundstage.
Do TubeTraps require symmetry? Tony has give lots of good information. You might want to check out the article "Optimizing ASC Tube Traps" at http://www.tubetrap.com/articles/iar89.htm - Dan
Upgrade Time Again.... please help The Accuphase A50v lists for $15K and the Boulder 1060 lists for $18K acourding to the Audioreview Web page which is ussually close on the more recent stuff. Cheers - Dan.
Isolation vs. Absorbtion Not to get off topic, but Sean what tweaks did you make to your Justa-Rack. I have two of these and I found your comments very interesting. - Dan
Soundstage - Too much? A wide and deep soundstage is important. You can have too much of a good thing if you get a wide deep soundstage at the expense of placement/timbre accuracy in the soundstage. On a good recording on a good system the instruments should have weight...
Upgrade Time Again.... please help I will certainly try to report my findings here. This leaves me with a conundrum. I wish I could just go down to my local dealers and start auditioning all these amps. But I have a hard time "wasting" a dealer's time if I know I am auditioning an ... |
