Is McCormack and Conrad one and the same?
CJ owns McCormack but different products. To Mitch2 the DNA 500 and Premier 350 are entirely different products. Both are true representations of each others designs and sonic signitures. Chuck
Great Copper Cables?
I use all Audioquest, Anaconda for interconnects and Volcano for speaker cables, and I am pleased with the performace they provide. Although admittingly I have not experimented much with other cables. Acoustic Zen is also a very good cable.Chuck
Notice how many SACD collections for sale?
I might add that single layer SACD's are dead as Hybrid's have taken there place; as it should be in my opinion. I believe the production of multiple layer discs are where the industry is heading if only on a small audiophile scale.Chuck
Affordable Power for Thiel CS 2.0s
I agree with Unsound CJ ss is a very good match for Thiels. I have Thiel 3.6's and have used an MF2500A in the past I now use a premier 350. I also might suggest Mccormick.Chuck
Notice how many SACD collections for sale?
No, I love SACD (hybrid). I listen primarily classical and jazz and there is plenty of material available. I do have some great redbook recordings but as a whole SACD is superior. I have thought of trying XRCD but I can not justify the price. Chuck
What other hobby or hobbies do you have?
Playing classical piano, riding motorcycles, running, drinking wine, stocks and automobiles. When I fell really twisted I do all at onceChuck
All Tube vs. Hybrid Preamplifier
WdiI don't think generalizations can be applied here; but others may disagree. It is my opinion that design , part quality selection and execution is what is most important. And in the end it is all about music and what pleases the listener.Chuck
Electro Harmonix tube opinions
I use the 6922 gold pins in my cj pre-amp and like them very much. I have not compared them to alot of different tubes. But I have tried a few such as JJ Teslas, Philips JAN NOS and the stock sovteks. They seem to have better dynamics and are more...
c-j technical questions
UnsoundI own Thiel 3.6's and my MF2500A had no problems driving them and sounded very good. I did upgrade to the premier 350 and obviuosly it does a better job in all aspects. But I would not be concerned about the 2500A driving your Thiels. Thiel...
c-j technical questions
What is your demanding 4 ohm load? And again if you tell them (cj) what you are driving I am sure they could provide some direction. You could also as the speaker manufacturer assuming that you are planing on driving a pair of speakers.Chuck
McIntosh MC275 vs Conrad Johnson Premier 11A
I listened awhile back to a MAC 70wpc tubed integrated driving a pair of parasound speakers; the front end was a pioneer elite sacd player. I used to own a premier 11a amp driving a pair of thiel 3.6's and comparing the two the MAC was not as invo...
Opinions on Belles 350A & Conrad Johnson MF2500
Keep in mind that Rhyno is comparing 250 w/ch to 110 w/ch so naturally the bass will be more robust with higher wattage. I have owned the 2500A and liked it very much nice and detailed with very good bass control I was driving thiel 3.6's with it....
Conrad Johnson,SimAudio,Thiel - Good Match?
I do not know why it would not be a good match unless there are impedence issuess. I use a 16lsII with a premier 350 driving thiel 3.6's and like the combination very much. You can always ask cj or simaudio for their thoughts.Chuck
Comparing Conrad-Johnson 17LS to 17LS2 Preamplifie
The 17 series two is better than the series one and in my opinion worth the money the 16 series two is better still.Chuck
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx
I scaned the review rather quickly and have to agree with him as I have never been impressed with wilson speakers especially the watt puppy 6/7's and the maxx's. They are built very well and the finish is excellent as is the components used in the...
