Accuphase A50v and Magneplanar 3.6
What people are forgetting here is that the Accuphase A50 amp is a Class A output amp with HUGE CURRENT OUTPUT which is what Magnepans like. I would say you would be fine with it, the bass might not be as tight (typical of Class A biased amps comp...
Lamm + Wadia. A Good match?
You will have to jumper the Wadia down big time, the Lamm's have high sensitivity so 1 volt or less gets full volume. The Wadia has way high volt output 4+volts. The Wadia's volume is done in the digital domain so you will be bit shaving by reduci...
Are Wilson Sophia's more finicky about placement?
moving 150lb speakers each time will not be fun and yes Wilson are more particular about placement then your current aerials or other typical speakers. Wilson speakers head designs and defraction panels are designed to prevent side wall interactio...
NHT 3.3 with SA3 Amps????
RCA splitter and let the processor do the crossover at 100hz if I remember correctly. I used an EAD Signature with my NHT 3.3's with a monosub signal. Bi-amping those speakers really wakes them up. Using an EAD Powermaster 2000 with 500watts to th...
Wilson sophia fuse
If you had another speaker manufacture you would be buying new drivers or your sound would be degraded by the fuse.So the resisters are cheap insurance, plus if you don't like the response of the speakers you can have Wilson change the values.
Parasound Halo JC2
The JC1's require over 1000hrs of break in to finally stabilize so don't give up on them, they are truly one of the few amps to drive your speakers. I suspect the JC2 requires the same amount of break in.Break the amps in first, and then make a mo...
Heard or experienced Audio Research D300 SS Amp
I've owned both the D300 and the D400 Mk 2. I would really recommend going with the D400Mk2, this is probably one of ARC's best amps. Much better bass control and transparency. My D300 also ran smoking hot(ran it bridged for a while on a centercha...
Sota/Shelter 501mkII - Tonearm Suggestions?
stay away from the Rega RB300 versions as the "lower compliance" (short stiff cantilever) of the Shelter 501 will wag the Rega arms. I owned one and there is a review on the Shelter describing the problems...so keep that in mind if you want to get...
Benz LP Ebony, and S-Class Ebony
I love my Benz LP and but if I had to retip I would surely do the S-Class upgrade.... My dealer has the S-Class on the stores Basis setup and it sounds great but I can't compare it to my LP because of how different the rigs are.
Upgrade RB300 Tonearm or Not?
buy a Michell Technoarm for $800 or so new here and you get all those features of a modded RB300 but it's way better...Personally I would try to find a Clearaudio Satisfy arm with the ruby bearings.. mine kills my old RB300 with Technoweight and y...
Technics sp10 mrk2 or SL-1200mrkII
Both require custom work to sound best..The SL1200 will have to be modified to compete with the SP10mk2... look at the KAB mods including the external powersupply, isoplat mat with a herbies on top since the SP10 has a more damped platter, and the...
Power amp for Audio Research SP16L pre-amp
Depends on your speakers and other variables.. the VS55 is really a honey of an amp if you can deal with the lower watt output. The older VT series are expensive and more difficult to retube. The 300.2 is a digital amp and has it's own signature.....
Is the KAB Fluid Damper worth it if...
I owned a SL1210M5G and it doesn't come with the thicker super mat, just the standard one. And when my friend put the thicker mat from KAB on it, the noise floor was lowered.. I highly recommend this upgrade if you aren't ready to do the Isoplate/...
Tact 2.2 XP: which configuration to get?
you need two DAC cards to output to your B&W 804's and your Sub. If you don't have any analog sources you don't need the ADC (analog in card). As a preamp I found the tact to be good but not great, you have to replace the powersupply with an up...
