The imperfect amp: Pass or Ayre?
Some top amps in this thread.  Ralph's post is priceless as Jim pointed out.  Bob, the difference for my system was night and day.  To my ears, it shares the fast Ayre traits, but the bass got tighter, the dynamics all showed huge gains.  Feel fre...
Revel speakers - dealer scuttlebutt
I'm with Bob on this.  I only will deal with dealers who are honest.  Rutan at Audio Connection and I speak about a ton of gear.  Most of it is stuff he doesn't carry.  As he often says, I like X product, but it's difficult to sell for various rea...
Audioquest Firebird Zero
For those who know audio and build their systems properly, they need to realize that this Tru-Fi stuff is 100% marketing.  Nearly every dealer I know will listen to tons of gear on a consistent basis to make sure they know what sounds best as a sy...
Audioquest Firebird Zero
Someone needs to get over themself, but that's for another thread.  PLEASE let's keep this on topic.to the Clarus guys. I really liked the Crimson, but for my system, in my house, the William Tell smoked the Crimson in all respects.
Bi-Wire Cable Question - Can They Be Used As Standard Speaker Cables Without A Problem?
I'm with Bob.  I'd just go with the new AQ speaker cables and have them terminated the way you need them.  I just ordered a run of William Tell bi wire combo after auditioning a bunch of cables.  If you can afford any of the new Garth designed cab...
Audioquest Firebird Zero
I ordered the William Tell bi wire combo for my Vandersteen Quatro's, Ayre AX5/20 and The Memory Player server/DAC.  I can't wait to get them into the system.  I've heard them a few times now and feel they are a GREAT value (seriously) at this pri...
Basis Turntables: Worth it or Ripoff?
For a spell, they were easily the Best Buy in the true high end tables I think.  Even now, they are priced fairly IMHO.  Tables are darn expensive right now, but if you want a top digital server, it's going to cost you over 8k.  The Aurender N10, ...
Basis Turntables: Worth it or Ripoff?
mijostyn, good minds think alike. I've been in touch with them about their rebuilt tables. I have decided to just have my albums that I don't have digitized or can't stream, recorded for me.  It's cheaper in the long run and my server/streamer The...
Audioquest Firebird Zero
I'm getting either the William Tell or Robin Hood bi wire's tomorrow. I have Vandersteen Quatro's, Ayre AX5/20 and The Memory Player server and DAC (most current model, the DAC is their prototype and will keep getting upgrades and a new cabinet so...
Basis Turntables: Worth it or Ripoff?
Thanks Larry,This is a problem in audio. Many of us have summarily not liked something based on what we've read or know or heard without listening to said product.  I'm sure that everyone has done this at one time or another.  Many actually do thi...
Which material sounds better for speakers construction? Wood, Ply or MDF?
All companies believe they have the best approach.  Implementation still matters the most.  You can have the most inert cabinet, but if your speaker is bright and fatiguing or can't image or has terrible bass, it won't matter. Ton's of approaches ...
Basis Turntables: Worth it or Ripoff?
First off, thanks for sharing guys.  I too have Primary Progressive MS.  The Mandell MS Center in Hartford, CT is on the cutting edge of things.  I started with Howard Weiner as my primary doc.  He was the best for me when I started this journey. ...
Vandersteen Kento Specs Released
lol... too funny Jim.  It's true though.  Bob, yes, I'm should be able to go, health considering.  Spoke with someone else about Kento last night.  He said they are as good as any 50k speaker he's ever heard.  That takes up a lot of territory, lol...
Vandersteen Kento Specs Released
It's not the same base at all.  Design is similar (HRS in there I think), but it's contoured to the speakers as you can see.  Richard has already started his tour of the country for the Kento.  Pretty cool.  I know he'll be at Audio Connection in ...
Basis Turntables: Worth it or Ripoff?
Funny as I found this thread for some reason.  I know it's old, but it's still relevant.  I sold my 1400 to Tomic.  I miss it e very day.  It was the best TT under 5000 that I auditioned.  Yes, ti was that good as he states and that's the disconti...
