Tube for aesthetix pandora / romulus
Thanks for the info guys. To clarify the engineer never said rubbish at all. This is what I posted:I just had this tube rolling discussion with an audio engineer who is highly respected by this board who disagrees with MOST tube rolling for a vari...
Power Supply for a music PC
ZD, I got mine from Steve Nugent at Empiracal Audio. You can't get the Paul Haynes units new anymore, but someone else who can keep up with the demand is starting to make them I was told. Steve uses them in his high end DAC's external supplies als...
Tube for aesthetix pandora / romulus
JMW, you sound very knowledgeable about tubes. Are you sure he doesn't use different tubes in the sig versions? I only have read their site on the Rhea signature vs regular (my new unit) and this is what they said about tubes:Any tubes that can be...
Tube for aesthetix pandora / romulus
I have been a tube owner for years and years and have gone with tubes from the manufacturer every time. They match them and know what sounds best. Often they will have a signature line (Jim White knows what tubes he feels are best and puts them in...
Power Supply for a music PC
IF you can find a Paul Haynes design linear power supply you will be golden. I have a large one running my Mac Mini and it is awesome. The power supply of my Empirical Audio DAC has a Paul Haynes regulated pwer supply also. Try adn find one.
Can't get Acoustic Zen Adagios to sound smooth
I've found that most speaker lines may keep the same common thread over the years, however most that I listen to often change with the times or as new materials pop up in the tech sector. I don't think you can take any companies amp from years ago...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
It may be better, however I run an integrated so I can't go without the preamp.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
Still need to get that hard drive and drive to rip my CD;s, but listening to all the great music on my server through this OSDE is blowing my mind. I don't even have my Vandy Quatro's yet. This is all through the Treo and Ayre AX7e (waiting on my ...
Can't get Acoustic Zen Adagios to sound smooth
Shakey, I'm honestly not trying to be snarky, but if you don't care, why do you even bring it up? We have all had bad experiences in our life an often times those turn into great experiences for who we meet etc.. I asked a friend to read some of y...
Can't get Acoustic Zen Adagios to sound smooth
Shaky, I have to ask you a question. In all honesty, when was the last time you sat down in a dealers showroom and listened to the brand new version of either of those VAndersteen speakers? I too thought that was the case until I sat and listened ...
Can't get Acoustic Zen Adagios to sound smooth
Wow, talk about a rude and mean thread. We all are emotional about our equipment. I get that. We all shill what we own and many of us will discuss products that have impressed us that we've heard. We all have ideas and if you are posting and askin...
What Pre/Pro do you recommend?
Krell, when I was looking at preamps I noticed that a few of the good ones have the pass through now. You should have no problems finding one you really like the sound of for your system. Most folks have no idea how important a great preamp really...
Vandersteen 5a Carbons
Yea, John doesn't spend a lot of money and I think he even plugs things straight into the wall for the most part. Hardly even pushed special ac cables. He uses things that you find in a regular room for the most part. I promise you that if anyone ...
What Pre/Pro do you recommend?
Yea, or maybe they can find something else they like that they can hear first. I'll have no problems selling the the Ayre once I get serious about doing so. Or maybe better Krelldog can just go get a great pass through preamp as that's where his h...
Vandersteen 5a Carbons
Bruce, you can fix much of that room pretty easily and inexpensively. A few plants, some wall hangings of the right material and some diffusing in the rear. Do you have walls or ceiling that vibrates with various modes? I spoke with a friend who a...
