does your system "warm up" and then sound better?
I used to own a 1973 Cadillac Deville. It had a 472cu.in. motor. This pig simply would not warm up until I started actually driving. No matter how long it sat idling!

You're right, Chayro. It was the Twilight Zone. I never did watch The Outer Limits. You've got a good memory!
does your system "warm up" and then sound better?
I could be dead wrong about this, but I think a passive device performs best when cold. I still have no conclusion as to why there seems to be an increase in performance after pausing my CDP. I still suspect it could be the crossovers cooling down...

I remember that episode too. What a fabulously insightful revelation it was. An introspective epiphany. Perfect analogy to this thread.

I think you're on to something! However I think the training took place in reverse.
It's All in Your Head
I never looked at it as a spiritual quest. Before I realized I'd become an audiophile, I resented the term because I felt it pigeonholed me into an elitist group outside of mainstream music enthusiasts. Most of my friends and acquaintances had ver...
is one ear usually stronger?
Unless you have tinnitus. In which case one ear can be markedly better than the other. Enter myself. My right ear is better than the left due to this hobby for the last 35 years. Or should I say the abuse I've inflicted on them. No fault of the ge...
does your system "warm up" and then sound better?
Mechans, the answer to the OP's question would be yes to both SS and tube amps sound wise, would it not? A good 2 hour warm up for tubes is a must anyway. Lots of class A SS amps are better off with a warm up period also, cost wise. Unless you dou...

I would agree with Marakenetz. It isn't artful when the recorded vocals sound like actual people and instruments sound like real instruments. It's just accurate. A utilitarian baseline brush from which a picture can then be painted. To not include...
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's?
Here's a couple you'll probably remember: Do You Know What I Mean- Lee Micheals, and: Resurrection Shuffle- Ashton, Gardner, and Dyke. Great tunes.
Who is Most Beautiful female singer ever
Lulu's got the best voice I've ever heard.
Beautiful Vocals...
I knew I recognized that name from somewhere so I just googled it. Julie London played a nurse in the weekly TV show "Emergency", my wife's favorite at the time. I wasn't aware she was a singer, but I sure didn't overlook her other attributes.
What Does Holographic Sound Like?
I happened to have visited that galaxy. I believe it was called the 1970s. It was also discovered that certain other parameters outside of THD were responsible to a large extent for the perceived performance characteristics and attributes of the g...
What Does Holographic Sound Like?
To me, the most important aspect as an audiophile is to focus on the objective, measurable, and demonstrable attributes of a system so I sense consensus here but also a little irony.
What Does Holographic Sound Like?
Okay, If I'm actually beginning to grasp this whole pretense, you guys' definition of holography has not, or only in a limited way, included 3d positioning as it relates to tubes. But simply a sense of three dimensionality around individual instru...
