Review: Plinius 8200 Amplifier
Great observations - again - Redkiwi! Yes, US buyers have this thing for constantly upgrading. It is true for cars, houses, audio, spouses..... never happy! What ICs and speaker cables do you use? And what kind of rack?I have mine on a rather inex...
BEETHOVEN'S LATE STRING QUARTETS
So, nobody likes the Lindsay's?!
I'm interested in vinyl.........
Durwood,What else you need depends to some extent on the cartridge that you get with the tt. If it's a high output moving magnet, then there's not much else.If you go for a moving coil (esp. low to medium output), youi might find that the phono st...
New Eva Cassidy - "Imagine"
"Imagine" is, I think, a compilation of songs in the vaults that did not make it onto other albums.Regardless, an interesting posthumous release.

Redkiwi,My Cabasse, too, have domed tweeters. I really like the sound, but do accept this notion of darkness or "reticence," as you put it. I have not compared the Plinius sound with other kinds of speakers, but find your observations to be intere...
Best Sax Jazz
The three best, in my opinion, are:John Coltrane (e.g., with Johnny Hartman or "Bags and Trane")Eric Dolphy (e.g., "Out to Lunch")James Carter (e.g., "Chasin' the Gypsy")
Read My List
I agree with Rosstaman about the Plinius. My experience is with the 8200 mkII. I bought mine sound unheard (but highly recommended) and have not regretted it. See my review...e-mail me if you have any questions. That said, you have a great list of ...

Interesting about the AZ Satoris tightening up the bass. I have been thinking about picking up a pair to audition. This is another good example of how the so-called "boominess" is actually an artifact of other parts of a system, not of the Plinius...
Mozart Piano Concerto 21.
Mikhail Pletnev is tackling the Mozart repetoire. So far, he's done 9, 20, 23, 24. His pianism is stunning and his grace is astonishing.
Lost in the Powercord Jungle
I don't see how these responses helped you. Seems to have added to (or verified) the confusion! But, let us know what you do. [BTW: I use Acoustic Zen Tsunami and Ernie's DIY kit]
Mozart,Haydn,Beethoven String Quartets......
schubermaniac,This thread was about Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, regardless of what you think about these composers. Why not start another thread on Schubert, inter alia?
Mozart,Haydn,Beethoven String Quartets......
It's possible that Hobart does so, just as Cropper does (or tries to do) in the Lindsays. And Cropper snifs so much that I can hardly listen to more than a few minutes at a time!
Solo's & Sonata's
Buxter...yes, Starker is fantastic, too! I'll keep an eye out for the Fournier/Kempff...hope I can find it on vinyl.
Mozart,Haydn,Beethoven String Quartets......
Buxter,I nominate the Mosaiques Quartet's recordings as great digital ones.
VPI cleaner clear tubes cracking
4yanx...now I'm REALLY going to try it (the RRL, that is)! Thanks.
