Wow...10th anniversary of this thread! I was listening to some Christine Tobin the other day, which inspired me to make a beeline to the Lagavulin 16 yr old. Something about jazz and Scotch...

Not to highjack this thread, but I have long been interested in Michael Jackson's (no not THAT Michael Jackson!) books on whisky. The most recent edition was compiled posthumously, as MJ died a few years ago. I was wondering what the community's a...

Learsfool: i much prefer Lagavulin to Laphroig. The former is more complex and nuanced IMHO. Laphroig was the first Islay malt I had, decades ago, so it has some sentimental value to me! However, I don't buy it much anymore. I remember a liquor st...

Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
OK, I guess that was a bit of a tease! Got a used 2007 Benz with 23,000 miles. The dealership had it priced at $35,000. With all the options, it sold new for $66,000. I guess given the economy, the car had been sitting at the dealership for 60 day...

Not much Chinese here, although some good tube amps are said to be available. I wonder if the weak dollar is changing buying habits.
