Plinius warm-up Which review is that, Hungplu? Mine does not have such a hum. If I turn the volume level up, with nothing playing, there is a slight hissing noise.
Best drink while listening to your rig? Sure, that would be great (e-mailing me images, that is). Thanks for the offer! cdunn@mortonarb.org
Looking for new genres... I like Tavener's "Thunder Entered Her."
What music have you been buying? Old or new? Dylan remasters (fantastic, for the most part) and the "Masked and Anoymous" soundtrackTom Ovans (a voice like Dylan grafted onto Tom Waits, with a little Neil Young thrown in)Dianne Reeves new CD ("A Little Moonlight") and Tierney Sutton's "Blue ...
Red headed stranger or the man in black? The man in black... Dylan wrote a song years ago called "Man in the Long Black Coat" which has little to do with Cash, although the song's title does evoke Cash. Dylan has been singing this song fairly regularly in his current European tour. And h...
Best drink while listening to your rig? Bloody good idea there, matey! Eggnog with Capt. Morgan's might go well with some baroque holiday music, eh?
Best drink while listening to your rig? Never heard of these liquors, Abe! Which music do they pair well with?! I'm in the Bay Area fairly often, so I'll have to check them out. We have a fairly sizable China Town here in Chicago... maybe I can find them here.
Telarc recording quality Don't know the answer to your question, Irishdog. But the more I listen to the Tierney Sutton catalog, the more I like them! With this artist, at least, they are doing something right, at least MY ears think so.
Comments of recommendations on Xmas music No new releases to suggest. But if you like Rennaisance music, then The Boston Camerata's "A Rennaisance Christmas" is fantastic.
Album of the Week - Opinion/Samples My album of the week is Dianne Reeves' "A Little Moonlight." Beautiful jazz vocals with acoustic trio backing her up.
Which CD's for Imaging/Soundstage? Quadophile.... yes, the remastered hybrid "Blood on the Tracks" is great!!! So is "Oh Mercy." "Blonde on Blonde" doesn't sound as good as the others, but still better than the original CD release.
Best drink while listening to your rig? Jasman... that is deadly... eggnog goes down SO easily sometimes!
Telarc recording quality Rc and Tonyp: yes, it is about the music, and that's sage advice. I hadn't notice the volume thing; namely, that the sound seems to clear up at higher volumes, etc. I'll check that out tonight (with a little single malt... umm.. yeah, mixing threa...
Awesome LP finds..at least for me Always gratifying to find treasures!
Telarc recording quality Well, this is interesting! Maybe I prefer that "clinical" sound? However, I don't generally think I do. Rcprince: I found the immediacy to be there, not lost. The consensus, thus far, seems to be that Telarc, like other labels, is a mixed bag. I'm... |
