My own audio store
Chris:Hey - quit trolling, huh? If A-gon spiked the thread, it probably isn't worth our time. And the above post is just a back door approach to reviving it. Please let it die, at least publicly. This is exactly the kind of thing that's gonna stir...
Belles vs Marsh
Sean:Excellent review! One item I've always had difficulty with was grasping concept of "pace". Would you mind giving us a brief once over on that? It would lead in nicely to explain the one difference you and I had with the ss version of this pre...
Belles vs Marsh
Mated to the Marsh a400 amp, I prefered the Marsh p2000t pre-amp over it's ss sibling. Thought it a touch more musical in all the ways that tube lovers describe the difference between tubes vs ss. HOWEVER - I also thought that the music played mad...
My own audio store
Jeff:How do I apply for a position in your new store? iirc, de riguer seems to be to post my resume, right folks? I'll work cheap in exchange for one benefit - I get to play with the toys!chas
I bought a GREAT cd the other day.
Thanks for the recommendation. I love good bluegrass, but don't have a local radio outlet, so it's tough to find good new stuff. For those interested, www.cdnow.com has samples from tracks on both cds you can hear. Of the two, I prefer the Revival...
Lets fight Part2
Lev:1. Not guilty of any of the above charges.2. I trust you don't really believe that the guilty parties actually are going to own up to it, do you?3. One reason I think Audiogon instituted the voting is so that people could avoid getting private...
Spendor, Harbeth...why so hot ?
Jmfb:I will defer to your far more extensive knowledge of the Spendor line - but I was auditioning the Spendor 2/3, which Paul specifically mentioned as having "the most natural sounding midranges among box speakers". Perhaps I was errant in descr...
Spendor, Harbeth...why so hot ?
Jmfb:I auditioned Spendors using both Krell and ARC gear. I can't recall precisely which models, as I was auditioning the speakers and not the gear. I do remember the ARC gear retailed somewhere around 15k, not including the CJ transport and DAC u...
Spendor, Harbeth...why so hot ?
I've heard the smaller Spendors and they definitely weren't my cuppa. Whatever the technical terms, to me they just sounded "small" and generally, disappointing. We swapped them out for the comparable ProAcs and that pretty much put an end to it, ...
Separate Components
I suggest you turn off caps lock, first. None of us are visually deaf (though I am occaisionally hard of reading). Then I suggest you provide us with just a little more information, like room size, musical preferences, some budget guidelines, mayb...
Best Whole House Audio?
Dekay - I've been wondering just how many Paradigms it takes to choke a NAD!!chas
Best Whole House Audio?
Heck of a start folks, thanks very much. Other issues have predominated of late, so I haven't gotten any further than this as yet - I'll post whatever I find as I find it, I guess. I do agree that whole house is an audio orphan, though - how else ...
How many DVDs/CDs/LPs do you own?
120 CDs (fastest growing group)250 cassettes (and declining as they fail)450 lps (mostly in storage due to renovations)About 4,500 78 rpm records (Times and formats change, I guess)I think the last time I checked sw was about 40%, but as always I'...
Mark Levinson 39
Samuel:May I direct your attention to the thread "Upgrade Advice" dated 3/12; and the thread "My Mark Levinson System Help" dated 4/9. It's said the man who forgets history is doomed to repeat it, it appears the man who doesn't know history is doo...
