Has anyone else ever reached an audio impasse?
bwhite: thanks for all your followups. it is often amazin', isn't it, that one, seemingly simple thing can affect the sound of a whole bunch of components. your's is an experience that can teach any number of lessons. it's been interesting for me ...
Help on premium cd player
grandpad: just a note to you on your accuphase listings. there is a very significant difference between the dp-75 and the dp-75v (indeed, i think accuphase's product designation is a little wacky). the latter model introduced oversampling and empl...
What's your favorite MFSL CD's?

Anyone upgrade a Jeff Rowland Model 8
daveyf: there are several levels of upgrades for the jrdg model 8. the first, replaces the transformer, among other things. i suggest you get in touch with jrdg support staff, or even jeff, to get the most complete information. there is a form onl...
Copy-protected CDs - philosophical discussion
tim: sometimes i can't slough off my tendancies to act as a parental unit, for which i apologize.. i do, however, most respectfully suggest you reread onhwy61's last 2 posts. his model is, in fact, designed to promote, not denigrate, the interests...

tim: have another beer, listen to you new pre-dac and go to bed. i think i get what you're tryin' to say but your sentences can't be parsed. onhwy61 is not a bomb-tossin' anarchist. his posts most always deserve respect. mine and yours. - cfb
Copy-protected CDs - philosophical discussion
onhwy61: ok, i'll accept your model literally. it's clever but wanting , IMO, in several respects. first, there's yet to be invented a copy protection system that is inaudible; witness watermarking attempts. second, encryption merely presents chal...
HELP No sound from tweeter.
it's possible a lead came off in moving them, tho it's strange it would have done so "completely" after several weeks. if you feel comfortable doing so, you can remove the tweeter (just slightly) from the cabinet to check the connections. if they ...
What's the Sonic Character of Accuphase Amps?
bwhite: i don't know whether the figures in your quoted piece are correct or not, but i can tell you this: tho the a-50v has a rated output of 50w/channel (into 8 ohms), it drives my eidolons to damn near the same levels as my jrdg 8ti, which has ...
Why is the turnover on maggies 1.6QR so much?
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more. No, I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more. Well, I wake in the morning, Fold my hands and pray for rain. I got a head full of ideas That are drivin' me insane. It's a shame the way she makes me ...

......ummmmmmm, i think onhwy61 was being either ironic or parodic. perhaps, sardonic. less likely, bathetic. -cfb
Which MIT Speaker Cables?
vtin: since you don't have spectral electronics in your system, you're not legally or otherwise required to use mit cables. try something else. you'll be much happier. i recommend tara with avalons and jrdg. much more open, neutral and musical. -cfb
Which speakers do the hologram thing?
sean: the only speakers i've ever heard that produce a believable 360ยบ dispersion pattern are the radiostrahler mbl 101d's. the first few times i heard them at dealers and ces rooms, i couldn't imagine anyone's wanting them, much less at the price...
Best Recordings
ben makes a very good point. there are numerous contemporary artists and labels that care about the sonic quality of their records. indeed, i think, on the whole, the quality of redbook cd's has increased significantly over the past few years. her...
Transport time
tim: you can also buy an aes/ebu board for your accuphase pre/dac should you wish to go in that direction. likely to be kinda pricey, tho. the accuphase dp-90 is optimized for st and is a great choice. i saw one here last summer that went for <...
