Best source of lead shot? bonjo (is that, like, a banjo played between your knees?) ;o): tireguy's right re: the best sources for lead shot. i'd suggest you NOT use lead shot alone, however, to fill your stands. a 50/50 mix of lead shot (i prefer #8-#12) and high-quality s...
Quality music labels some great information, guys! i'd add 4ad, tomato, red house and ryko. BTW, sad news from the most recent TAS: nimbus has gone under. buy what you can while there's still some stock on the shelves. -cfb
XRCD vs. SACD anyone? avguy: xrcd is not a "format." the discs are still redbook, using superior recording/mastering/manufacturing processes. as to my take on cd vs. sacd, see the following, which was posted on 1/18/02 in a thread titled "sacd and dvd-a; why so negativ...

Just purchased Wilson Maxx's. Now what ?? Amps? duewey: you'll need them all, of course, but, IMO, THE most important component in a high-quality system is the preamp. if it isn't up to snuff, nothing going into it (sources) and nothing coming out of it (signal to amps) will sound as good as th...
not a charming day with snakes sos and michael: the hydra i've borrowed is well broken in. having been at this hobby for more than 30 years, i've heard my share of conditioners, surge protectors, power regenerators, powercords, ic's, cables and numerous related tweaks. my sound...
Are record rumors true? trebleclef: here's what the related hyperlinked text sez: DCC is NOT dead. The ownership of the company is being transferred, and it is taking a very, very long time. Lawyers and courts and depositions, blah, blah. Very frustrating for us music f...
not a charming day with snakes tim: i was at my audio dealer's/best friend's place this am and poked my head around to see what i'd not yet heard in my rig. john suggested i try the hydra with a set of pythons, since i'd played around with some other pc's lately. of course, thi...
not a charming day with snakes albert: i also observed what you observed, tho this effect wasn't as disturbing as the loss of pace/"quickness" in my listening sessions. the PRaT problems i encountered were also manifested by bass muddiness on a number of discs. - kelly |
