A move has me thinking of a CD changer....?
"Hi, I think I want a CD changer, because I have a lot of CDs. Any recommendations?""Rip them all to a server.""But I don't want a music server, and I don't like streaming.""You should stream your music and rip all your CDs to a server."Typical he...
A move has me thinking of a CD changer....?
You can pick up a Sony ES 5 CD changer for dirt cheap on any of the auction sites.Feel free to IM me as I have several and have been using them for years. Some models were better than others. If you're using an external DAC, you're golden.I'm not g...
Telling musicians to evaluate and choose their instruments in a “scientific” way?
Tone is in your fingers. And your cables. And your fuses. And your amp. And your microphone. And the room conditions. And your equipment. And the stability of the power, cords and connections. And what media your using.....As a guitar player mysel...
XLR or RCA cables?
I use a couple of different CD players (one with XLRs, (fully balanced), and a few with RCA outputs only.I get much louder volume out of the balanced XLR connection player than the RCA connection players when they’re hooked up to my preamp. (I cou...
Synergistic Research HFT's
I have 10 HFTs around the room, as well as some acoustic panels. They both work as advertised. With the HFT's, what I find to be very interesting, is that you can tell (hear) a difference just by experimenting with their placement, to within a few i...
Rogers LS3/5A Need Help
I'd hold on to those.....That's a pretty simple fix.You should be able to get anyone who is the least bit competent to fix you up.Probably take all of 2 or 3 hours to disassemble, install new binding posts, and reassemble.I never heard of anyone p...
Fuses
I don't understand it, therefore it can't be true, therefore I refuse to try it.Think I got it, @tsushima1 Your argument would be better served if you actually had any experience with the subject at hand.Come back after you've tried a couple of fu...
Fuses
" Fuses themselves do NOT affect sound."Oh yes, they most certainly do.If you can't hear a difference, there are probably several reasons for that.First would probably be because you've never tried one.Do you think thousands and thousands of audi...
If your down on your system…
" Do not try and bend the spoon. That is impossible. Instead try and see the truth: there is no spoon."This.
Underwood Hifi Cables
Cables are like tennis shoes. You kind of have to try them on to see which ones fit best.I don't think there is any way to tell which ones are going to work best in your system any other way. There is a huge market for used cables, and it works both...
Everything Does Seem To Matter
Man, most of you guys are way ahead of me on this stuff, but from what I've heard and experienced, this stuff matters. I really DO think you might be able to tune/tailor a system via cables, fuses, and treatments.
Fuses
Just pre-ordered a SR Purple for my Classe pre-amp.Very much looking forward to hearing the difference between the currently installed Orange and the new Purple.I will for sure post my findings (the purple doesn’t ship until the 22nd).
Everything Does Seem To Matter
@ozzy,Yeah, everything matters.Better connections. Better materials. Better cables. It all matters. Even if it is a small improvement, you make enough small improvements and all of a sudden you have a large improvement. What it’s worth to you mone...
Fuses
Try an upgraded/audiophile fuse. Most come with a money-back guarantee.Go into it with an open mind.Grab a beer, have a seat and enjoy your stay on the dark side.
Sibilance
+1.That album has been remastered so many times it's almost impossible to know what version you are getting....That being said, I just listened to "Time" on CD and via streaming (Amazon), and neither version I heard had any sibilance in it.I'd say...
