How to test a cartridge?
OK, here is what happened.I changed all four leads from the headshell to the cartridge, left channel & ground to right side, and right to left. I still have music from the right channel only!BTW, I double checked all interconnects and speaker ...
How to test a cartridge?
Thanks for the quick responses!Edle: I did switch the pre-amp leads which resulted in the sound moving to the left channel, and the right channel dying. That's when I hooked the ohm meter to the cart.Detlof: I removed the cart from my Rega P-25 (t...
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
I lean toward "lead" drummers, guys that drag the rest of the group along. Therefor: Ringo, Moon, and Buddy Rich.
Phono-Pre Suggestions ?????
Dynavector carts. are usually a very good match with the P-25. Look for a MC with 0.5mv, or greater, out-put.
Any experience with Dynavector carts???
I second the caution regarding low out-put MC's. I have recently added a step-up transformer between my Dynavector 17D, and my Herron MC Phono-Pre (fantastic sound!!) to get enough gain. The Herron is rated at 60db, and so is the Coph Nia I tried,...
Two of your best audiophile Blues CD's ?
Eric Clapton & BB King, "Riding with the King", their cut of "Hold-on, I'm Coming" is worth the price of the CD.Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper & Steven Stills, "Super Session."BTW, both are better on LP!
What cartridge works for you ???
I agree with Psychicanimal. I use a Dynavector 17-D which is in your price range, and a beautiful sounding cart. on my P-25.However, due to the low out-put (0.23mv) I have had trouble finding the right phono section. Most do not have enough gain t...

See if you can find a used LFD Mistral integrated amp and any of the CD players mentioned above.

Take a look at the Herron Audio pre-amp. They are rare on the used market though.

Looking to upgrade from receiver
You may be able to find a used LFD Mistral in your range. Excellent integrated made in GB.
I am looking for a smoothest sounding outboard DAC
My personal favorite is the Chord DAC 64.
problem with levinson no 37?
The DAC you are using may not be able to read/translate the CD. I don't think the transport has anything to do with your problem.
What turntable for $1500 ?
Rega P-25 with RB600 arm, and a Dynavector 17D Karat MC cart. If you have some luck shopping, you can pick-up this combo for $1,500.00. The down side is, you will have to be carefull in selecting a phono pre, due to the low output of the cart.
And What Did You Get Your Wife For Christmas?
