Dunlavy SM-IIa - Experiences?
If you have to go with floorstanding speakers, since the monitors are not readily available, you might consider Dunlavy SC-III's which are a 3-way, 5 driver tower the same size as the SC-IIa, which is a six foot tall, 3 way, 3 driver tower. Improv...
Mono VS Stereo
In a correct stereo set-up there are instruments on the right and left and in the CENTER. That is the stereo effect. Since you prefer a "close-field" sweet spot with the speakers 8 or 9 feet apart and the music in Mono it seems there is a "hearing...
Labeling Mistake and Preconceptions when listening
In a slightly different fact pattern, I received several jazz LP's from an Audiogon seller. Played the first one only to discover that the vinyl was actually a Broadway Musical recording, nothing whatsoever to do with jazz or the artist featured o...

Sorry for the typo, ECC33. Not 83.
6sn7 substitute for Cary Sli-80
Wait to hear directly from Cary. The ECC83 was commonly used in computer switching mechanisms. It's ability to repeatedly switch off and on in a circuit may be a cause of damage to other component parts unless Cary designed the circuit of the ampl...

How about an accordion thread?

Speaker Technology over the last 10 years
The design & component quality of the Crossover and build quality of the Drivers are key. This separates great speakers from the mediocre and is, or should be, the reason why you would want to replace your present speakers. All Drivers, regard...
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME THIS?
This is also a method of selling "gray market" equipment. That is, directly imported audio equipment which bypasses the authorized USA importer/distributor/retailer network. This method will usually violate any manufacturers warranty. Checking the...
Is A Live Concert Stereo Or Mono
Depends on how the microphones are placed. Obviously, if there is only one microphone the recording is Mono, even though the live performance could be heard in stereo if the band is divided more or less evenly across the stage and you are sitting ...
HELP I think I have an electrical issue??
Generally, dedicated lines are installed with a separate breaker-box specifically for those lines(separate from the main panel). A separate ground is also required. Otherwise, the electrical sound of every appliance in the house can, and possibly ...
HELP I think I have an electrical issue??
Could a common-ground explain the problem? Have you tried to lift the ground on the M60 Amplifiers?? Use a 2-prong adapter on each amplifier. It may improve the audio reproduction as well.
