Who Has The Best service department I'd second the Martin Logan mention............ outstanding customer service. Audio Research has been very good to me as well.
Whats under your VPI Scout / Scoutmaster? I built mine, but you can buy any butcher block. Be sure to get hard maple though........... I really think the type of wood makes a difference. Mapleshade actually has some nice looking maple stuff too.
$8,000 budget--Need help The room................ GOOD GOD!!!! It sounds like a giant mausoleum. I would think you are going to need 8k in room treatments to make anything sound good.
Whats under your VPI Scout / Scoutmaster? I have my Aries on a four inch hard maple butcher block that sits on the four corner posts of a Zoethecus maple rack. The motor sits in a cutout with a maple block of its own. It rests on the top shelf of the rack so it's pretty much decoupled fro...

Budget phono cables David,I'm, not sure how much they are new but the Cardas phono cables are very good bargains. I have used Kimber Silver Streak RCA interconnects as well and thought they were pretty good. You can always find them used on Agone. If you need a gound...
Magnepan vs. Martin Logan I own a pair of ML Prodigy's and a pair of Maggie 1.6's. I love both speakers but the Logan's flat out kill the Maggies accross the board......... as well they should given the price difference. I have auditioned the Maggie 3.6's at length in my t...

New tube amp for ML Prodigy CAT, VTL, ARC???? THe ML present a fairly even 4ohm load up until around 10K as I understand. They are rated as 89db efficient so they seem as if they would be a fairly easy load.......... However, as I understand it they present some anamoly (sorry I'm not an EE s...
New tube amp for ML Prodigy CAT, VTL, ARC???? Jafox,Have you heard the older CAT JL1 mono's (esp. the signature version)? Ken Stevens has reportedly said the newer models are better but those were supposedly incredible. What are the differences. Does anyone know if the Atma-sphere MA-1 MKII.3...
New tube amp for ML Prodigy CAT, VTL, ARC???? Gerry,Thanks for the input. For some reason VAC amps are not really on my radar. I don't know much about them or thier "house" sound. Do you have any idea on how they might compare to my ARC? They are relative bargains compared to some of the othe...
VTL, CTC, Lamm, ARC, EAR, Halcro, Mark Levison I am suprised no one has mentioned the Aesthetix Callisto Sig. I just got one and I am very happy with the sound of my system now(make that astounded).Chris
Best Guitar CD Recording Check out some David Grisman's "Tone Poem" discs. Very well recorded with a different guest(S)and vintage instuments for each...... Really cool stuff. SOme of the Waterlilly recordings (especially the Ry Cooder "Meeting by the river") are good too...
