Review: Aesthetix Callisto Signature and the KT-66 Tube preamp Wow John, sure sorry to have steered you wrong on this one........ I wonder what the deal is? The sound you are describing is certainly not what I am hearing in my system. The Kt-66 does give a "slightly" more laid back presentation, but I would j...
Are the Beatles the reason why modern music exists I think what the poster is trying to express is not, "who invented R&R", or "what are it's origins", but rather "what made R&R what it is today?" (i.e. Modern Rock).... and no, it wasn't Debussy, Schoenberg, Stravinsky). While it isn't as e...
How do I decide on a CD player or adding a dac? I know this isn't really answering your question but......... I would strongly urge you to do some room treatments first; even if it's adding some furniture, wall hangings etc. With nothing on the walls and only a rug over hardwoods the acoustics ...
For Martin Logan fans - Aeon i versus SL3? Ok, I'll take a stab at this one. I owned the SL3 sold them for the Prodigy and then bought a pair of Aeon's for a second system. I didn't directly compare the two, but have a pretty good memory of which I liked and why. To cut to the chase, I thi...
Anyone tried active biamping with Martin Logans? What is your budget? I have owned four different pairs of ML's....... From SL-3's to Prodigy's, and many different amps (tube and SS). I always preferred tubes. I had good success with ARC VT100 II (Used $2000) and Sonic Frontiers Power 2 (both 10...
Anyone tried active biamping with Martin Logans? I agree with Beemer.....Adcom + ML= Not good. All you can do is try it and see though. I would seriously consider getting one good tube amp (or at least auditioning something) to see how that goes too.Chris
Speaker Cables for Dynaudio Special 25 Jack,The Nordost house sound is thin and also somehow out of phase to my ears. With the Special 25's they brought out too much midrange prominance (around 500-1K) and just made the speakers sound edgy and forward. The bass was pretty weak too. Alt...
Guitar player? , What model do you own or play? 20+ years as a professional guitarist, but I had to cut back on my giging in the last couple of years..... Makes me a little sad.Guitars...... Zeus vs. Wolcott vs ? A couple amps you should really consider IMO are the CAT JL2 (100 wpc but will probably drive harder loads than either amp mentioned) and the ARC ref 300II (if you can afford it). VTL 450's might also be a choice. Of the two you have listed I woul...
Bettye LaVette-"I got my own hell to raise" I haven't heard the CD but the vinyl sounds pretty darn good.......... Chris
New Beatles Box Sets I'm not trying to hijack the thread or anything but...... I too grew up on the Capitol (God awful) stereo mixes of the Beatles. Their music is some of the most precious there is for me. I recently spent big $$$ on some original Parlophone UK "mono...
anyone heard the 45 rpm repressings of Bill Evans I have about ten or fifteen of these fantasy jazz titles from Aoustic sounds (I assume that is what you are referring to)and they all sound incredible. Yes, they are very expensive...... try one and see what you think.Chris
Bettye LaVette-"I got my own hell to raise" Mechans, I think I got the Vinyl at Acousticsounds (aka Analoge Productions). Chris
Bettye LaVette-"I got my own hell to raise" I completely agree........ one of the best records of the year. The vinyl version is especially nice.Chris
Jonny Cash I really think you have got to own Johnny Cash' first recordings he did for Sun Records..... It's what everything that follows is built upon...... Not having those recordings is kinda like being a Christian without knowing there is the Bible IMO.C... |
