Brian Eno's Turntable Design
@bdp24, not sure what Dylan thought, doesn't matter either. Both artists inspired many others. There is an old quote that made the rounds among several music folks: "The Velvet Underground didn’t sell many records, but everyone who bought one went...
Brian Eno's Turntable Design
Just one person's opinion, although Art Dudley agreed with me about Reed, Art putting quotation marks around the word singer when speaking of Lou. A terr-i-ble "singer", and a mediocre songwriter. Art Dudley agreeing with you. Well I guess that...

Brian Eno's Turntable Design
@kingharold, that's because sound has little to do with this at all.
Brian Eno's Turntable Design
The price is now 20,000 Pounds Sterling (roughly USD $26,500), only a few left. If you look at it from the perspective that it’s a highly sought after piece of art from a popular figure then it makes sense. As the pieces become fewer the price goe...
Audiophile Reel to Reel Tape
@fuzztone, do you use the electronics in your Otari for playback? I started off that way but converted an Otari to take the signal direct off the tape head and I have a few dedicated tape preamps that I run that signal through. Quite a difference....
Audiophile Reel to Reel Tape
It was in Absolute Sound, not sure of the issue though. However, this list is something I came across and which I think you will find useful:https://www.recordingthemasters.com/music-on-tapes/If you want to acquire some recordings at a fraction of...
Stereophiles 2021 Recommended Components is now on line.
@bdp24 - there are no more "T" versions to be had. The last production run used in-house wound transformers. They were wound on a George Stevens transformer winder under Roger's supervision and tested by Roger.
Stereophiles 2021 Recommended Components is now on line.
AND, since Roger's passing a few years ago has not been available new. @bdp24 - There are actually two new RM-200s left from the last production run which was 2017. As I organize the shop they just keep turning up.
Are all amps being built wrong?
@jasonbourne52 - It's been a couple years so I would have to look at that Harvard H3 again. I seem to recall 1" long beads, but they could have been rods. They were all around the power tube sockets.@bdp24 - I'll see if I can dig something up to v...
Are all amps being built wrong?
This statement is false. No Futterman amp ever had anything like 60dB of feedback!! The most any had was more like 20dB, and because the amp had very wide bandwidth, oscillation (caused by its phase margin being exceeded by the feedback) was so...

Power conditioner some say yes and some say no.
@charles1dad - I was using the Torus RM15+ for quite a few years and before that had the original Running Springs Audio Haley. Both were very good, but do not provide balanced isolation. I have 4 dedicated lines for my system, the BPT is plugged i...
Power conditioner some say yes and some say no.
I worked for Roger Modjeski for several years. He was always of the opinion that if you designed the power supply of a component properly then additional power conditioning would not be needed. In his system he used an inexpensive power strip, mai...
Pass / Korg B1
As for the Korg B1 I got tube microphonics from just turning the volume control and this was the tube that came with the kit. The other two I bought from Pete Millet and they were much better but still not up to my standards.
