Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Considering Nelson has freely participated and contributed schematics on the Lightspeed thread over on DIYAudio, I'd have to say he must feel this is a pretty good design and it certainly got his attention (as it has other designers of note). Prob...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I have sat in front of many systems that measure great but sound rotten. So, I have no need to help out poor Sam Tellig, just to point out that techno-babble that says the same thing over and over again on this thread does not prove that George's ...

Your many reviews on here aren't free advertising? The comments you make in them aren't a reflection of personal taste and/or results you are hearing from system synergy?Maybe in his old age Sam has had a change of heart and prefers the distortion...

As a photographer, I always preferred working with black and white film. Simpler, easier to develop, and the end results always seemed to stand out better than equivalent color shots.

It's a bit of both.
Dynamic speakers for OTL amps
I use Audiokinesis Jazz Modules with my OTL. Not crossover less, but an excellent match. The combination is great with rock music as well.

The short answer to your question is yes.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I can see the point regarding complications of adding an input buffer to the circuit of an active preamp. It certainly moves away from my simpler is better philosophy. However, I was more curious about adding this type of volume control, or more a...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Well it might be a great suggestion but in the MkII version it appears to be somewhat impractical according to George. IIRC the single ended version of the LSA uses 4 matched LDR modules. In balanced mode it would be 8. It's difficult enough to fi...

Dgarretson - So you finally were able to get it done. I had recalled earlier you were attempting this. I take it the Shallco is the one used in the MP-1 and that is now replaced by the LDR? If you can provide some more details on how you did this ...

Optically controlled resistors for volume control.Instead of using a potentiometer to perform volume control within the circuit, we use an array of 48 optically controlled resistors. These resistors are controlled through a temperature-compensated...
Yamamoto YDA 01 DAC
I was curious about the exact chip used and could never get an answer from Cees on that topic. Not sure why. Thanks for posting the information.
Room Treatment for Corners - Recommendations?
The acoustical advantages of these are due to the acoustical materials in the wicker basket. The "plant" is camouflage.Given the previous comments I thought I'd try to craft an answer that stated the obvious reason why they work, but also appealed...
Room Treatment for Corners - Recommendations?
I don't see them on their website any longer, but Real Traps used to sell artificial plants where the wicker basket was filled with absorption material. Combined with any benefit the branches and leaves might provide it seems to be a reasonably go...

If you would like a primer or just some additional information on chip architecture this is good reading:http://www.clarisonus.com/blog/?p=80#more-80I own a DAC with the TDA 154x architecture, owned the Monarchy M24 mentioned in the article that u...
