any other XLR interconnects i should demo?
Grover Huffman SC, Magnan Type Vi, Chimera Labs Advantage Audio all worked well in my system.
Tonian Labs TL-D1
Congratulations on your purchase. I too am impressed with these speakers and hope to try them someday.
Help with final choice of efficient speakers
The Devore 9's the OP is considering aren't that far off size wise than the Jazz Modules. I had a similar requirement for something compact and found the Stormbringers were not that much bigger than the pair of Spendor 1/2e speakers that I had. Al...

Good recommendation on the Tonian TL-D1's. Another fine speaker that somehow stays under the radar.
Help with final choice of efficient speakers
Agree on Audiokinesis. I chose the Stormbringers (and have since moved up to the Jazz Modules) over the Devore Gibbon Super 8, Zu Druid, and, Audio Note AN-E. In addition to being easy to drive they are flexible as to room placement.
Preamp for B&O 8002 w/ MMC2
The MMC-2 is moving magnet. I was using a preamp with 36db of gain in the MM phono section and that was plenty for the cartridge.
First Watt F3 or Red Wine Audio 30.2
Agree with Jaybo on more watts for rock. Odysee makes some nice amps which should be great for rock. Might want to look into McCormick too. Many others to choose from as well but those are two that come to mind.
Nordost Blue Heaven
Some time ago I was using Blue Heaven interconnects and made the switch to Red Dawn. Red Dawn offers more of what you like in Blue Heaven, but IMO it also produces a smoother high end. Not rolled off mind you, but rather removes some glare that wa...

MM cartridges are a great place to start. Many fine ones out there. There is an entire thread here on Audiogon discussing MM cartridges started by Raul Iruegas who IMO is a good source of information on cartridge tonearm matching. He sure owns eno...

No you're not barking up the wrong tree. You have to be very careful about selecting the right components and ensuring they match up well together, especially the tone arm and cartridge. Proper set-up is important as well and having access to the ...

A $2k budget as previously suggested for table, arm, and cartridge is very reasonable. Add $1000 - $1500 for a phono stage and up to another $500 for cleaning supplies and you should be good to go. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a table used if availa...
seeking dac with de-emphasis circuit
The Dodson, while a fine DAC, exceeds the OP's budget.
Joule LA100 MKIII or Granite Audio 770FP or Modwrt
I've never heard a loss of dynamics running a passive preamp in my system. If your source has low output impedance, at least 2V output, and you're running short interconnects you should be fine since your amp is passive friendly. Furthermore, you ...
Inverting phase with Joule Electra LA150MKii
Good points Rafael, room phase is another piece of the puzzle to deal with.
Inverting phase with Joule Electra LA150MKii
As far as I recall Joule preamps always inverted phase (I owned an LA-100 MkIII), so changing the speaker leads at the amp output would technically place things in phase again. However, try it and see if it makes a difference. There's been lots of...
