Relationship between Ethernet Switch and SQ
audphile1 Cheaper streamers buffer. Higher end streamers cache. Some higher end streamers buffer but use a healthy buffer area and processing to ensure the data is clean. What streamer are you using, @audphile1 ? What streaming service are...
Cost Incurred to Achieve a Vinyl LP Replay
dogberry I tried ripping all my CDs and had a disk failure in a hardware RAID array that required the exact same model of disk to replace a failed drive. They had been discontinued, so months of work for nothing. What type of RAID array did yo...
Audio Quest Niagara 5000
tattooedtrackman From what I understood from Jays utube video was when the power correction switch was engaged that he heard the buzzing from his speakers ... Jay used to have a thread here and a few users and myself figured out he had so...
Does the streamer effect sound quality
tomic601 Only have experience with one Streamer connected to a quality DAC.  However, the Streamer offered sound "enhancement" features.  Claimed to 1) fix corrupted digital bits and 2) improve overall sound quality ... Hmmm. What streamer...

audphile1 Let’s not confuse caching with buffering…I’m asking about caching. If you want to be precise, what a streamer really does is load the file into a buffer. It’s really a difference without a distinction, though. You’re getting a bit pe...
Logical next step from Legacy Signature SEs? Around $15K...
mihorn That is the character of your system. In my system, I am satisfied with YT SQ. Oh yes, many people are happy with Youtube sound quality, just as many are happy with Spotify, which like YT is lossy. My system is fairly resolving, so for ...

carlsbad2 ... This isn’t fast enough for streaming so error checking goes out the window, replaced by "error correction" meaning that if a bit is dropped, some value between the 2 adjoining bits is chosen (interpolation) ... So streamers, clocks...

mihorn YT sounds good enough to understand musicality. YT is lossy audio and whenever I’ve used it as a source in my main system it sounds like it. I think it’s useless as a comparative tool because there are just so many variables involved. I...

ellajeanelle You didn't have access to sheet music? It's amazing how many musicians can't read music notation. Paul McCartney! Go figure.
Quality of Sirius XM
Sirius/XM uses lossy compression and it will sound that way no matter how you listen. However, it's possible to get better sound from the stream than the satellites. I use an iPad to stream at home and use its digital out into a Bryston BDA-3. If...
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'?
atmasphere Music is processed in the amygdala. But if the brain detects something wrong ... then there is a tipping point where the processing is transferred to the cerebral cortex. That’s not consistent with the science I’ve seen. Work d...
A great interconnect between Soulution 751 and 725
In my view, your best upgrade is to take advantage of your components' balanced design and connect them using balanced XLR cables.
ARC amplifier with Conrad Johnson Preamp
honeybadgertube I thought the same thing but I emailed to ARC and they said should be zero problem with that. Yes, you can make the two work together, but you won’t get the best results from either, imo.
Do I Need a Dedicated Streamer?
deep_333 Ad gibbergibberinum.... Baby talk? Is that the best argument you can offer?
ARC amplifier with Conrad Johnson Preamp
I think you'd get much better results by using the Ref 75SE with a balanced preamp, such as an ARC Ref 5 or Ref 6. The CJ is single-ended.
