Heavy Vinyl
I haven’t found heavy vinyl to be more susceptible to warps at all. In fact, the most warped records that I can recall were the old RCA Dynaflex LPs, and they were incredibly thin. By itself, a thicker LP is no guarantee of quality.

Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
lewm Red herring. I am not using a spring-suspended TT. Again, understood. I’m talking about the arm in general and remember, I’m one of the guys who isn’t questioning your assessment of this arm. ... if you are saying that you use a SOT...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
lewm ... the arm is heavily weighted, at least 2 lbs, so that when you sit it on a plinth surface that is in turn well coupled to the platter bearing, then there is a sort of coupling. But that isn't the case with a suspended subchassis turn...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
lewm No pod! Pod is an option if you can’t fit it on the plinth surface ... Understood. But if the arm isn't rigidly attached to the chassis - which, depending on the turntable, isn't necessarily the plinth - it is essentially affixed like...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
lewm ... if you take as gospel the emphatic declarations that this tonearm and others like it cannot possibly work because of excessive TAE or whatever else, then the result of my listening tests should have been disastrous, on the negative side...

Testing Ethernet switch
fredrik222 ... but facts remain ... 100% of people with knowledge of the topic hear no difference. This is what a randomized control trial would call placebo effect. You may well be correct. If none of those subjects heard a difference, it...

stewartgr How can I tri-amp when my preamplifier only has two sets of balanced outputs to amplifiers? If you want the full benefit of biamping or trIamping, you'll need a crossover after your preamp to feed your amplifiers, so your preamp woul...

Seller Unresponsive after payment.
yogiboy In that listing it is not stated that there will be a delay in shipping. The seller never returned any questions that you asked. Since the seller did not ship the item there would be no problem having the seller refunding that purchase w...
Balanced XLR vs RCA for phono stage
macg19 I did install a same brand/model XLR interconnect a few days ago. It took about 10 seconds for me to know the XLR's were staying. The increased gain was significant ... there was also a s/n benefit ... What blew me (and my wife) away...
Unreal Reel to Reel 'Tourbillon' by custom art designer Metaxas of Metaxas and Sins
russter ... the gear in this line, designed by Kostas Metaxas, is insanely beautiful in both form and function ... Of course beauty is in the the of the beholder. But I think this guy’s designs are fugly and, from what I can tell, design takes...
