Time for dedicated outlets!
cerberus79#12 wire is rated for 20 amps and #10 is rated for 30 amps. If you use a 20 amp breaker it will trip at 85% of rating so what is the point of going to #10. Derating the wire will reduce voltage drop. The calculation of the proper gaug...

creekmaster10-2 use silver paste to coat the wire ends before attaching to breaker ,better yet would be to install breaker panel sub box near where it enters wall and use a grounding rod driven in to the ground 12' 5/8" dia.,then you eliminate ...

801d ... would a dedicated 20amp circuit be the way to go wanted to get 120 volts all the time and get away from voltage dips I get any where from 119v to 105v in the summertime is this hard on the amp? Are you in the US? If so, 105VAC is ...
MRI grade vs Hospital grade electric outlets
I'm not sure why you'd want to use 30A outlets. They would require using a plug not compatible with 15A/20A outlets without gaining any particular advantage.

lowrider57Something that I’ve wondered about, electricians use staples when running cables. Any audible effect ? (as long as they don’t pierce the jacket).I think clips are preferable to staples. That's what my electrician uses.
Experiences buying used cartridges
vegasearsBuying a used phono cartridge for me would be like buying a used Tooth Brush!+1 That's very well said!
FM alive and well here...curious question
schubertSeems OK to me, WI public radio puts out an uncompressed signalThere’s no such thing as a real radio station that transmits an uncompressed signal. They all have signal processors in the audio chain, either before the STL, or before the t...

tablejockey is the sound quality of playing an  online statin equal to a nice tuner? In a word: No. It's not even close.
FM alive and well here...curious question
The advantage to using a "real" antenna - by which I assume you mean a directional antenna - isn't just the added gain, but the potential for reduced multipath and the distortion that goes along with it. Whether that would  be noticeable on your s...

^^^^^^^^^^^ We are way OT here, schubert, but what you're talking about aren't military failures. They are political failures/problems.

High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
jjss49 anyone here able to do direct, head on comparisons?Either approach can yield outstanding sound. I'd put Oracle and Linn at the top of the low-mass designs - I had an Oracle Delphi for years and it was superb. I've long since returned to a...
Amp current - how much high current to go for
yogiboyAny solid state amp that is worth its salt should double the power into 4 ohms,or come close to it!Sorry, but I don't think that's true at all. For example, many McIntosh SS amplifiers use autoformers on the output, so they are rated to d...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
jinjuku I believe the method is scientifically valid and I haven’t seen any material counterpoint to it.At least three contributors in this thread have explained how your test fails to meet scientific protocol. So either you're not paying attent...
ZYX Ultimate with carbon fiber cantilevers -- listener reviews?
don_c55$15,000 for a cartridge. No matter what anyone says about the quality, that is absurd! It's a subjective judgment. I'd never pay that kind of money for a phono cartridge. But many people think that what audiophiles commonly pay for component...
