Do blown preamp tubes cause other issues?
schubertIf you have a solid-state amp with tube pre it can take out your speakers .I have never, ever seen that happen. In the case of ARC, where I have the most experience, the preamp will go into automute at the slightest malfunction.  
coupling or decoupling of vinyl to/ from platter
reubent... I do not have a threaded spindle, hence my curiosity about using a weight ...FYI, there are clamps that work without a threaded spindle. KAB makes one, the Record Pig is another.

I've never had any problem with damage after losing a tube in an ARC preamplifier, and I've used ARC preamps for decades. I'm currently using a Ref 5SE. 
Non-transferable warranties?
I think transferable warranties are more the exception than the rule in hifi. And as mcintech stated, it's often a warranty requirement that the item be purchased new from an authorized dealer. 
Electrical Panel Grounding
All grounds must be bonded together at the service panel. This is for safety reasons, and to ensure that breakers will trip properly under fault.
