Storage of other speakers in the room, shorting them while not in use? Myth or true?
Most rooms have much bigger problems to worry about.
Washington Post article on MoFi vs. Fremer vs. Esposito
@sns    As to MoFi losing a case on the basis of alleged listener bias, I doubt the cleverest and most devious lawyer (even in the States) could prove a case, even on the balance of probabilities test, using evidence based on unprovable psychologi...
Washington Post article on MoFi vs. Fremer vs. Esposito
@sns      I think the legal position is quite clear.  If MoFi states an LP is 'all analogue' or 'AAA' and it is not, they are guilty of misrepresentation.  If they say nothing then there is no cause of action since a misrepresentation has to be an...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
No need to agonise like this.  It is all personal choice.  Don't worry about efficiency.  Get the speakers you like. If they are low efficiency then you will listen at lower volume or buy bigger amps. Simple as that.
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system.
How do you find out if you could have got better sound cheaper? It is in the nature of decisions that once made there can be no going back.  You choose your road and never see the others.  Yes you could sell it all up and buy cheaper.            ...
Would you spend you money on modest brand new car or rather buy top notch vintage one?
@tannoy56   Why mention cars if you are not talking about cars? I have bought a number of items ex-dem,. amps, speakers.  Arguably they have been lightly and carefully used and don't have too many miles on them.  A warranty can be negotiated.  Th...
Just received my B&W 802's: One tweeter doesn't work - HELP!
@nyev    Was around 2000 and hard to remember exactly now.  Say 7 years? B&W use the same or nearly the same tweeters in most of their top range speakers.  What is the experience with other models?
Time to upgrade the pre-amp.
SP10 is a classic.  I have had one for 40 years. It has given great pleasure.  It was state of the art when introduced.  Although very accurate and detailed, it is a but soft for some relative to today's high-end amps. You could call it a 'classic...
Just received my B&W 802's: One tweeter doesn't work - HELP!
I bought the original 801s around 1994.  Some years later both tweeters stopped working close in time to each other.  No misuse, loud volumes, connection pops. Seems B&W may have a problem with this.  I had them re-tweetered, I thought the co...
What I really hate about some music
Rap.  Can't stand it.  All of them trying to plumb the depths of cool, rhyming words just for the sake of it, mostly talentless, always to the same beat with almost no musical content.  Hey, come to think of it, I'm off subject as OP posted 'music'.
OMG. What now?
If you love the sound without a preamp, don't bother with one. Spend the $$$$ on music, concerts, something nice for the wife.
Owning Up To It
I met Plant in Hong Kong, in a restaurant.  It was the week of the handover to China in 1997.   We saw him on the next table but respected his privacy. Our group was taking photos of ourselves by putting the camera on delay and standing it on an ...
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad)
House renovation. Rule no.1            Don't hire a designer. Rule no.2            Don't even think about it. Many years ago I broke rule no.1 in an office furnishing project.  The designer couldn't measure.  She ordered furnishings that didn't...
How To Write a Hit Song (#1)
Terrible song, even for Country. Who is John Rich?  He can't reach the high notes, voice turns into a whine. I liked Johnny Cash though.  A proper star.
Upgrading
@blisshifi        Power cords are NOT what most here who expressed a clear opinion said.  They said speaker leads. And two here said listening impressions must be discounted if they are not done blind.   Make that three...   @mazian    'I don't...
