I need help regarding tube phono preamplifiers I have had a Linn Linto in my system for the last 15 years. Loved it. But always wondered if tubes could add more midrange warmth and give those saxes more body and real world sexiness.following the reviews of @mulveling I ventured forth with the ...
LINN LINTO NOISE I think I can help. I've run a Linn Linto for 15 years and hear a light bump if I turn it off before the amp. It is certainly not a "thump" but there is an audible noise. You have nothing to worry about. As an aside, as I put the Linto back in m...
Zu introduces Soul 6 Thank you Phil for a great and very complete review. Worth the wait! My only thought is that it would be nice if one of your tube amps was one any of us could relate to or might have heard - just as a benchmark of sorts. Also what's your turntab...
Zu introduces Soul 6 @213cobra Hate to press but......how do they sound?
Zu introduces Soul 6 @ 213cobra "I’m giving my pair of Soul 6 another week or 10 days to further settle in, then I will post complete comments, including some comparative notes relative to Soul Supreme, Druid 5, Druid 6 and Definition" 18 days and counting........ :)

The primary cost saving appears to be in the power supply. Is there anything missing?Like the OP...

Advice: Used Tube Preamp - primary - 2 channel analogue stereo - secondary 5.1 (not HDMI) Great recommendation though i was hoping for a single box solution. If I go this route and use the HT/bypass how can I run the main speakers as part of my HT setup? My power amps only have a single audio input. Thanks for the help.
Budget Tube Amp (newbie) If you go the integrated route be sure that the phono preamp for your TT is built into that amp. Otherwise you will need a phono preamp in addition to the integrated.
old jmw9 vs new I too am interested if it is really an improvement to go from the original JMW9 to the newer stainless version. What are the differences?l have the original Scout. The only sensible way to go to a 3D arm would be to trade up to a Prime. Don't have...
old jmw9 vs new How does it sound different? Did you ever get any input on your ? From other sources than goners?
VPI JMW-9 aluminum 1-piece tapered arm wand Thx. I'm looking forward to finding an arm to send him for his fitting!
CDP choices-Looking for advice Agree with Schotbus. Whatever your choice of CDP make sure it can be used as an external DAC as computer based audio is the future (now!). |
