Linn av 5140 active or espeks ?

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me, i have heard varying different reports on the differences between the av 5140s and the espeks some say the espeks are better and some say they are just different and its down to preference. can any one tell me if i go active with my av5140s will this make a bigger difference to the difference between the av5140s and the espeks both passive ? also does anyone know the mid range driver used in the espek ? thanks for any help Michael

The Espek is an updated version of the 5140 with marginally upgraded tweeter and midrange. I updated my 5140s with Espek tweeters when the latter failed and the difference was there but marginal.
The upgrade of 5140 from passive to active is far from marginal but night and day!
Go active and don't even think about Espek. When a driver fails or when you feel the need upgrade to Espek drivers but otherwise just go active!
