Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi? @zander024 Here's my journey, which is all over the place until I got serious about a two channel system. I unfortunately don't have any dealers of anything local that seem willing to allow at home demos (I did in store demos when possible) so I'v...
NEED TO REPLACE OLD FAITHFUL- WHICH AMP. SHOUD I CHOOSE @johnread57: How do you compare the Pass amps to the Krell in terms of differences and similarities?
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi? There are some parallels to where you’re starting from and where I started. I used an Arcam AV40 and PA240, both of which I still have. It was good for what it is and both still remain although the AV40 is purely for AVR duties. I now have a f...
Lumin how do i get next song in playlist??? I'll echo that using a tablet is far better. I've grown to like queuing up what's to be played and with the way mine is setup, once the que is done playing, it stops playing music and doesn't start again from the top.
Has anyone compared Lumin the U1 Mini to the U2 Mini? Wanted to add that I also had a Node 130 with upgraded power supply, and switched to the full Lumin U1 with the X1 PSU. It was a substantial upgrade across the board in terms of sound quality, and while I initially missed the ease of the BlueOS ap...
Has Anyone Compared the DAC On a Bluesound NODE 3rd Gen to a Separate DAC? For the most part, people who start with the Aries 2 end up moving up the line. If it were my money, I'd start with a Pontus 2 and be happy for a long time. I initially ran my BS Node 3 with a Venus 2 and it was great for what it was.
Ifi Zen Stream vs Lumin U1 mini, worth the jump? I did a lot of research on this before taking the jump to a full Lumin U1 and just added an X1 power supply. Night and day compared to my Node 130 with upgraded power supply feeding a Denafrips terminator plus. Granted I don't have direct experien...
Questions to Denafrips Terminator Plus owners (the break-in) @vonhelmholtz The good thing is that if you are smart in selecting components, you don’t have to worry about spending more because you’ll be content with the system and not feel the need to change things. There's also a significant point of di...
Questions to Denafrips Terminator Plus owners (the break-in) I've had mine now for about two months. I found that after a week of use and leaving it on 24/7, it smoothed out a fair amount. That was the most significant change in my opinion, after that it was consistent. And the improvement over the Venus 2 ...
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life? For me, it was the KEF Q75. I bought them off Craigslist for $100 years ago and it was my first gateway. I wouldn’t call them special but they led me to get into the hobby and end up where I am now.
Node 3 or Better Streamer Plus upgrading the power supply makes the biggest difference if you're using the internal DAC. If you're using an external DAC, the upgrade has a smaller effect at least in my experience.
Node 3 or Better Streamer For that budget, I'd stick with the Node 3 and upgrade the power supply from PDcreative. I've found you have to spend at least double or triple that to potentially get a noticeable improvement. Or you can combine the classifieds and find a dea...
Just got a new Bluesound Node. Very disappointed! I also ran a Bluesound N130 with upgraded power supply via coax into originally a Denafrips Venus 2 then into a Terminator plus. I never had issues with the sound. Both DACs are obviously a big improvement over the internal one. I also very much l...
Amplifier current vrs watts; why is current more important? Thank you for the detailed response, I'm still learning about all the ins and outs of this topic but think I've gotten a decent grasp on it now. And I totally agree with your point on sound, I've never been a 'spec buyer' but like to balance good ...
Amplifier current vrs watts; why is current more important? The challenge is the fact amplifier manufacturers don't always post that info. Then it's back to looking up reviews, forum posts, etc. Even the size of the power supply isn't listed often, much less current delivery ability! |
