GIK alternatives
I'll chime in as well since I had a positive experience with GIK. I ordered 244 absorption panels, Alpha diffuser/absorbers, soffit and tri-trap bass traps all in an optional fabric and color.    While the time from order to delivery was slightl...
How do you break in a preamp
Agreed on leaving it on and using it. That's what I did for my XP-22 and I leave it on 24/7, I didn't notice a substantial difference as it broke in.
Best DACs under $7,000.00
If you like the Pontus' performance, moving up to a Terminator Plus makes a lot of sense. I went from a Venus II to a Terminator Plus because I really liked the Venus, but wanted more of everything. The Terminator Plus delivered that.   For what...
What’s your latest high-end audio purchase?
Received and have been listening to my new amp, a Parasound JC5, which is my first 'proper amp'. It really has opened my eyes to how much improvement a well engineered amplifier can bring across the board and I'm loving it.   Eventually once I g...
Best Way To Connect A Bluesound Node
I found in my system coaxial was best. The main determinant of the sound quality was connecting it to ethernet (hardwired) which made a big improvement.   I didn't find the USB was noticeably different than coaxial, which the Node was feeding in...
Move from Parasound A23 to A21/A21+ or Something Else?
@mrteeves I ended up buying and receiving a mint, one year old JC5 today. Initial impressions are that it's an immediate step up in clarity, detail, sound staging, and bass (both quantity and refinement). Everything feels more effortless and flows...
My Medium List of Amplifiers and my Personal Review of Each !
@avanti1960 I found a mint used one (for a fair deal too) so thankfully don’t have to worry about break in, although I’ll definitely let it run before critical listening! Thanks for the insight on the front-end, mine will be fed with a Pass XP22, ...
My Medium List of Amplifiers and my Personal Review of Each !
This is very well timed as I have a JC5 en route. A big part of the appeal is an amp that could do everything well, perhaps at the expense of not doing one thing great.   Do you mind sharing the rest of your setup?
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi?
@zander024 Forgot one step, which made a massive difference in my setup. Room treatment.   10. Added an area rug, GIK Acoustics 244 Bass Trap with FlexRange (absorption) for points of first reflection, Soffit and Tri-Trap bass traps to tame bass...
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi?
@soix You guessed it. I'm pretty focused in on either the X250.8, x350.8 (or the X260.8 monos but I would need to redo the house electrical side). Others I'm considering are Parasound JC5, Coda 8, or similar. Can drive oneself crazy hyper analyzin...
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi?
@zander024 Here's my journey, which is all over the place until I got serious about a two channel system. I unfortunately don't have any dealers of anything local that seem willing to allow at home demos (I did in store demos when possible) so I'v...
NEED TO REPLACE OLD FAITHFUL- WHICH AMP. SHOUD I CHOOSE
@johnread57: How do you compare the Pass amps to the Krell in terms of differences and similarities?
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi?
There are some parallels to where you’re starting from and where I started. I used an Arcam AV40 and PA240, both of which I still have. It was good for what it is and both still remain although the AV40 is purely for AVR duties.   I now have a f...
Lumin how do i get next song in playlist???
I'll echo that using a tablet is far better. I've grown to like queuing up what's to be played and with the way mine is setup, once the que is done playing, it stops playing music and doesn't start again from the top.
Has anyone compared Lumin the U1 Mini to the U2 Mini?
Wanted to add that I also had a Node 130 with upgraded power supply, and switched to the full Lumin U1 with the X1 PSU. It was a substantial upgrade across the board in terms of sound quality, and while I initially missed the ease of the BlueOS ap...
