LS-50 Speakers (Passive) I have both the Elac UB5 and LS50s. I also have a pair of Totem Hawk as reference. In my room and with my modest marantz integrated, The UB5s are coming really close to the LS50s in terms of imaging/soundstage, clarity, details. The LS50s deve...
LS-50 Speakers (Passive) db, you may be right, but with bass management as you say. I personally like to let the main speakers play what it was designed to play. In other words, I crossover to my sub naturally at the point where the mains can't no longer output, and kee...
LS-50 Speakers (Passive) I don't think the LS50s have changed. KEF tries to save money like every other manufacturers: by achieving economies of scale. What I believe is that the new Q150s are very close to the LS50s. So the initial LS50 development investment will conti...
Morrow IC's dr morrow = a lot more insulation, and less copper. I guess it can sound different.
Mogami wire quality? A cable like mogami is certainly much better than let's say a Dr Morrow, or Kimber, or audioquest, because in the mogami, you get a good chunk of pure copper kept all together whereas in the others, the cable is made of individually wrapped smalle...
Vandersteen VLR Wood ..any love for these? Good read on the VLRs.. thank you... How do the VLRs a foot away from walls in terms of bass, are you missing a lot under 100hz? and are they directional like something like magnepan or do they have good dispersion?Thanks...
speakers with balls Totems when mounted on the "claws" have little balls instead of spikes, in addition to great sonics with well developed bass. Just right. There are Totems Staff here for sale on AGon. If I did not have the hawks already, I would get a pair.
speaker cable prices Also crutchfield cables... you can choose from 18 to 10awg OFC, they are figure 8 in a black jacket; I know some high-end cable makers stay clear from black jacket because it deteriorates the sound, but for less than $2 a foot, it must not be all ...
MAKING THE JUMP ... From Inherited Speakers to the right choice < 2K Price Also, the vandersteen 2CEs employ 4 drivers, and they are a true full range set of speakers. In the right environement and with power, I am sure there would be little to gain by adding subs.
speaker cable prices Is it me or is this ludicrous? It's not you. The high price is justified however as cable marketers put some real innovative work into the design of these cables. What's ludicrous is that there's no audible benefits; they do not "disappear" mo...
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale? Yes you can look under the cover by getting in the dark and by placing a couple flashlight against the cover from different planes... You will be able to see inside.
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale? I have had the Vandersteen 2CE sig.. They are great, spacious, laid back, capable of bass you can actually feel.’s a very musical speaker, not for someone who likes details on the bright side. I sold mine just because I wanted something different,...
Focal 1008 be vs KEF LS50 vs KEF R300/500/700 vs MA Gold 200 That will be an interesting comparison! I own the LS50s but I have never heard the others. My guess is that the focal should be a more competent speaker than the LS50, as the LS50 has its limitations due to size. Please let us know what you hear!
Just bought Kef reference 1, now to choose speaker wires I have LS50s and Belden 10awg, copper bfa plugs. Work wonders. The Furez mentioned above would work just as well.
Why do my new Transparent cables make my system sound muffled? Because resistance is the issue that gets in the way, more pure copper cable to see is less cable to hear.Vive 10awg. |
