PS Power Plant vs Audioprisim They are two entirely different animals. I run a Chang Lightspeed 6400 for protecting my Amps because it uses no isolation transformers and/or copper coils and hence, it doesn't limit the current to my Cary SLAM 100 tube monoblocs. I live in Miami...
Difference between ECC88 and E88CC Tubes? Since you have the data sheets handy, you'll see that the 6DJ8/ECC88 is slightly lower in MU than its brothers the 6922/E88CC and 7308/E188CC (which are identical I believe.)For the most part, you'll be able to use all three tubes and each designa...
7308 tube code question The VR is the Philips/Mullard/Valvo code for a E188CC or a 7308 tube. The 5 after the VR denotes the fifth variation of that tube. The "*" is for Hicksville, NY, whereas the delta A would be Heerlen, Holland. The '5' after that would probably be 1...
Recommended phono preamps? Hello Paul, I think we've corresponded before (vibrapods?) I had a Musical Surroundings Phonomena for about a year and ran it with my Kuzma Stabi/Stogi Reference arm/Lyra Lydian B cart and it's a nice entry level, flexible, decent sounding phonost...
for SF Extrema :pass 350 or ml 336? I've heard the Extremas with VTL 450 monoblocs and a CAT Signature preamp. Lots of control and a very nice presentation over the two hours I listened.Chris
Final Labs Daruma Bearings, Opinons? I'm still using them under my Dodson DAC and Sony SCD-1. I have an unused set of Symposium RB IIs w/Tungsten Carbide balls, but until I removed my phonostage today for sale, there was no room under the Dodson to use them. I may give it a whirl. Th...
Sony SCD-1 as transport? SCD-1 has the fifth foot, potted transformers and hand picked/hand soldered parts to go along with the quasi balanced outputs, which aren't truly differential. Most people find the S.E. outputs actually sound better. Go figure?Chris
SILTECH I couldn't complain at all. A very nice cable without any glare on the top end. Bass was deep and possessed definition and tone. Midband was quite nice. I ran this cable on the Sony SCD-1 going into a Blue Circle 3.1 preamp. I also ran it on my El...
sfcd 1 best tubes I've had a lot of listening hours in front of a buddy's SFCD-1 and tried more than a few tubes from my personal stash, but he was using some mid '60s US Amperex white label 6922 PQs to good effect. I sold a pair of my later production Siemens 7308...
Sony SCD-1 as transport? I've been running my SCD-1 through a Dodson 217 mkII 'D' DAC and Stealth Varidig Signature for the past four months and can't complain. A bit less glare/edginess in the upper freqs and a bit more forward midrange. Bass is quite nice, but somewhat ...
Shunyata Hydra You both need to bone up on your English comprehension.I take it that I'm not incorrect in my statements regarding SofS selling the Hydras?By Samuel's admission, I've not said anything 'openly' offensive towards SofS and Stewart. I surmised that t...
Dodson DA-217 MK2-D I've had my 'D v.1' backing up my SCD-1 for a week now. The amps came back from Cary at the same time, so they're settling in as well. I'll check back in a week or two myself. So far it looks really, really neat in my rack and it even sounds nice ...
Shunyata Hydra I think the MS Exec. probably got his Hydras from Stuart of Sanctuary Of Sound, who works up in that area and who told me that he sells lots of stuff to the wealthy boys of Redmond. When I bought my EC EMC-1 from him, he told me that he, at the ti...
dCS vs. Dodson DACs Nice to see another forum up and running. My Dodson 'D' shipped today and will be mated to a Sony SCD-1. Just to clarify, the Dodson takes any bitstream and converts it to 24/96, then oversamples by a factor of 8, rendering a 24/768 signal, at lea...
Resoution Audio or Electrocompaniet!!!! I've had the EC EMC-1 since November and can't complain. It's a very smooth sounding CDP which really gets the tone/timbre correct. It might not be the end all/be all at the freq. extremes, but I can't argue that it makes my CDs sound ALMOST as go... |
