Boy, Oh Boy! Towshend!
I put Townsend bars under my speakers a few weeks ago.  Money very well spent. Liked them so much I added their stands for the amps.  Also a noticeable difference.  I have tried all the home remedies and tweaks that others have suggested over the ...
Why are Ayon tube amps not mentioned very often?
I am actually in home trialing two Ayon CD players at the moment.  I never heard the brand before but ran across them at a local dealer.  Am quite taken aback by both.  Ayon makes some great looking and performing products.  As always though it’s ...
Best of... Soundbar for Samsung TV
Happy with Sonos.  They have two different bars depending on what you want to spend.  Happy with the sound.  Can add peripheral speakers later if you like (sub woofer, rear channel)
Where are the young audiophiles?
I have 4 kids.  All of them love music ... multiple genres not just rap or pop.Only one (age 16) is an audiophile.  One is a musician (age 19) lots of her work is on Spotify.  Music to her is about creating it and listening for learning about lyri...
Samsung flat screen TV’s
We have 5 Samsung TV’s at home.  They run all the time.   The oldest is 8 years the newest 2 years. Honestly, I wish that one of them would die so I can mount a serious effort to convince my wife we must have an 8k TV.
CD v Streamed
I like my vinyl but was very pleased with my Lumin music streamer ... all the albums I could think of at the push of a button and decent sound quality.  Then someone posted something recently about the tips and tricks of getting the most out of st...
Soundstage
Apologies to all who have responded ... a late edit that I should have caught before sending.  My post says “...does extend beyond the speakers...”. Should have said “...does NOT extend beyond the speakers”
Pass XP12. Tame, Anemic?
I have Pass XA 160.8.  It’s paired with a tube preamp (AR Ref 6) and Silent Source cables. Works for me.  Very musical and dynamic.
The Most "Analog" CD Player?
I assume this post started off as a joke intended to get a chuckle from everyone.  It has ended up many look a bit foolish
Subwoofer Recommendations
You need 2 subs to integrate the sound.  I use REL and am super happy with them.  They compliment my main speakers.  Other brands mentioned here are good as well.
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else
If you do go with the Pass X250 and AR Ref 5 pre ... take a close look at the gain matching. I have Pass XA 60.8, AR Ref 6 and Avantgarde UNO speakers.  The I love the sound of my setup but I can’t turn the volume control past 5 without blowing my...
Top down or bottom up? Just asking...
The answer will be different for each speaker company.  Each company will have a different profit margin they determine to be acceptable for each product line/price tier.  That profit margins is first determined by what price the company believes ...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
“There is. Unfortunately very hard to find. Fast as they build em, fanboys snap em up.”So now we have a good short list of dud’s.  I”What are those speakers where everything just seems to fall into place? I am itching to replace my 20 year old Ava...
Two subwoofers for two channel music listening
I have a couple of REL subs and love them.  The manufacturer is very specific about setup. The ideal setup (from their point of view) is the subs connected at high level (to the speakers .... they have slightly different ways to do this depending ...
Gain Matching - need advice
Thanks all for the advice.  As a first step, I am going to try the Rothwell Attenuators.  If they work that’s great, if not then I am not out that much $.  I looked into having AR modify the preamp but they say this can only be done on older model...
