If I could afford, I’d purchase 100% Oswald Mills Audio gear
You can get solid construction for much less, maybe not lumber/timber but Baltic ply, which has performance advantages over plain timber. The wood on Fleetwood's speakers is stabilized by torrefaction, which is an improvement, but at a cost. They ...
Class D amplifiers. What's the future look like?
“Class D” as a category is likely to be diffused across newer hybrid topologies ( Class G, Class H) and “digital” amplification in active powered speakers that will obviate the need for standalone amplifiers altogether while adding utilities like ...
speakers for small room
JBL 4349.
Preamp for a GaN-FET amp...
You might look at the Pro-Ject Pre Box RS2 Digital preamp. It offers dual DAC, a headphone amp and a selectable tube output stage. It has an I2S interconnect for use with the ProJect CD transport, but will work fine with any streamer or CD player.
Preamp for a GaN-FET amp...
The future for audio amplification is GaN FET and other flavors of successor generation "digital" topologies. Class A and tube amplification generally will become even more of a niche product area as the generation that brought those technologies ...
Bought a system without auditioning, thoughts?
A modest-output class-A solid state amp should be able to drive those Fortes with ease (you haven't mentioned wanting tubes, which could also do well with the Fortes, but probably beside the point.) A Schiit Aegir or Musical Fidelity A1 or a Sugde...
Bought a system without auditioning, thoughts?
It's all good gear by the piece, nothing too peculiar. I would think it will sound very nice together.
Will China become the poor man’s dealer for high end audio?
They are past the place of only providing the cheap gear, they are already well established in building modern interpretations of classic tube amplifiers and speakers, selling at prices that are not low but are competitive.
Bad Tube?
I am going through nearly this very problem with some premium Linlai KT-88s, one power tube causing very low volume in whichever channel it is placed (Willsenton R8 with Skunkie mods.) whenever in ultralinear but not in triode. Bought as a matched...
Warranty repair wait times - serious industry problem??
Rolex started a tuition-free training school for watchmakers in Lititz, Pennsylvania because the numbers of trained (and qualified) watch repair technicians was concerningly low, low enough to jeopardize the market for their products in North Amer...
Warranty repair wait times - serious industry problem??
Three months is not bad, relatively-speaking. If you have fine watches, waits of 9-12 months for manufacturer's service are common.
2nd system for office, all-in-one integrated suggestions
Staying within your stated budget, $4000 all-in, I suggest a Peachtree Carina 300, which has a phono stage, an ample 300WPC and is, of course, a one box integrated with dual DACs. All you will need will be your streamer and the speakers and TT you...
How Much Do Aesthetics Factor Into Your Decisions?
If I'm paying for it and have to look at it, I want it to look good.
Class A integrated amp recommendations
The Accuphase E-280 integrated is class-AB, not class-A. Accuphase currently make two class-A integrated amplifiers, the E-650 and E-800 with 30W/8R and 50W/8R respectively.
Willsenton R8 Tube Amp with REL Subwoofer
The amplifier does very well with a REL sub. I set mine up with the Neutrik cable to a T7i in my library/office room and a pair of Martin-Logan Motion 35XTs, a 2-way 92dB ported speaker with AMT tweeters. My speakers are on isolation stands on a c...
