Advice Needed: Bluesound Node vs Vault If the OP hasn't made his/her purchase yet, they may want to consider this: https://www.bluesound.com/products/vault-2/Yes it's recertified as opposed to new, but it's much closer to the price of a Node, and has the Vault's ease of ripping.
For those of us over 60.. Paul Simon! Great question.
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review Very confusing thread. The Stereophile (source) article says:"Though Mytek ultimately chose an amplifier module from the Danish company Pascal A/S, it's far from an off-the-shelf version. "We use one Pascal," Jurewicz wrote, "but the module is...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? That's a good start -- I have never seen this topic described using visual analogies, and it is much easier to understand the concept that way. Thanks again!
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? Fascinating -- thanks for the explanation. Can you recommend a good book that covers these topics?
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? If a disc says "Remastered in DSD", doesn't that mean the contents of the disc are encoded in DSD? If not, we really need to establish a lexicon.@folkfreak -- you said you "listen to my red book upsampled to dual DSD" -- I don't understand. If a...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? Thanks for the response folkfreak-- I did know that Redbook was the original CD standard format, at 16/44.1 (Sony-Phillips 1980), but I thought that some more recent recordings were being pressed to disc in higher density/bitrate formats, such as...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? Thanks Erik and folkfreak! The discs do say "Compact Disc Digital Audio", so it sounds like they're PCM. Probably Redbook, but there may be no way to tell. I didn't realize CD's were exclusively PCM, or that DSD was only done on DVD's; good to ...
How to tell if a CD is Encoded? That should have been HOW, not IF — thank you, Apple auto-correct…
Speaker Help +1 on the Vandy 2wq subs with either the Vandy 2’s or Treos. You may be able to find a pair of used Treos for $3500. If so, I would get them first, and then save your money for the 2wq’s somewhere down the road. I have a DNA-1 too, and that i...
Wear glasses? Play cds? Own PEEPS? @geoffkait — I just went off and searched through Amazon to find George’s review, but was very disappointed. There is no bad review from anyone named George; please don’t get my hopes up!!!
Questions about digital audio output from iPhones Thanks for your responses folks! does anyone have a hypothesis on what controls the output format? Is it the format in which you store the file on your iPhone, or is there a conversion that takes place inside the iPhone so that everything is se...
Questions about digital audio output from iPhones I have found the adapter to work well. My DAC shows the input as 16/48. Not 16/44? I would have thought Redbook was possible (assuming you had it stored that way on the iPhone), but I've never seen a 16/48 PCM format.
OPPO or Something Else? I don’t understand Steve’s comments (@audioengr), but I’ll throw in my 2cents. I think it’s important to distinguish between using the Oppo as just a "transport" (ie, a disc player that outputs a digital stream to the coax or optical output), vs ...
Can an HDMI output be converted into something a USB input would accept? Thanks for the responses, folks -- I'm afraid this ship won't float. @whart you may be right, but the Cambridge tech support people said it was a "DSD" signal, so I assumed they meant unencrypted DSD -- you know what happens when you assume. It ... |
