Any better DAC then dCS Scarlatti?
I don't see anything wrong with a manufacturer suggesting that someone read a review comparing his product to the one the OP inquired about. Coming on here and badmouthing someone else's product is something else.
New audiophile looking for first speakers. HELP
Cmalak - I think your speaker choices are valid and perhaps with a big sub they might work. I've seen several heavy rock fans over the years attempt the transition to the high end only to be disappointed by the lack of power and impact. Appreciati...
New audiophile looking for first speakers. HELP
Personally, I think those who like metal and heavy rock would best be served with a professional sound-reinforcement speaker such as a JBL Professional or EAW. They have huge bass and viceral impact. I don't think any high-end speaker in the price...
Help: My newly upgraded AA Capitole gives no sound
I take no sides in the above dispute. However, I think that if one wishes to purchase the more "exotic" gear from the smaller overseas manufacturers, it is better to purchase new through a well-established US dealer who will assist with service is...
Ayre CX-7e comparison to Sony SCD-xa5400es
Buconero117 - In a previous post, I recall you stating that you didn't care for the 5400 and returned it to Sony. Now you bought another one?
Sony SCD-XA5400ES owners question
You are right - the detents feel a bit cheezy compared to the XA9000. But it works fine.
Next upgrade?
$500 doesn't go very far in the world of phono upgrades. I suggest you leave the phono the way it is and spend the $500 on a nice-looking hooker.
How long for cartridge break-in?
I would also experiment with the mat. I found the Herbies mat to work incredbly well on one table, but not sound as good as a stock felt mat on another. Also, I would give yourself some time to adjust to what analog does better than digital. You a...
Whats the most you paid?
Stl114 - The alternate stereo mix of WSOP was a limited edition single, one side cut at 33.3 and the other at 45 rpm. The record itself has a Regal Zonophone label on it. Tim DeParavicini is the head of EAR electronics. He is noted for his modifie...
Whats the most you paid?
Stl114 - My favorite WSOP is the alternate stereo mix done by Tim DiP. Far better than the am radio mix of the test pressing. Do you have that one?
The CD Player Lie?
I am curious as to what music you were using for your comparisions.
Removing fine scratch marks from VPI plinth
Keep in mind, I highly doubt you can remove any but the absoulute lightest and finest marks by hand. Removing scratches requires removing material from the surface of the plinth and that isn't happening by hand. At least not with any amount of pre...
Removing fine scratch marks from VPI plinth
High-end auto detailing sites like Properautocare.com carry pretty much all the stuff you need. They also have nice stuff for your car.
Removing fine scratch marks from VPI plinth
You're all forgetting the cloth used can cause as much damage as you're trying to remove. Quality microfiber is the best, followed by 100% cotton. Probably better to use the cotton with the plastic polish, as it is more agressive and then remove i...

$95 for a mono test pressing of Whiter Shade of Pale. It's a cool song.
