Artists of the Decade
Answer: maybe on his day off?

Mapman: 50's R&R advocated a rather bland good time attitude, not criminality. When did Carl Perkins ever slap around hoes with the butt of his mac-10 before he sodomized them?

To all you defenders of 'rap': How low do we have to get as a culture before you guys admit that there has been serious deterioration? Outright glorification of criminality is not enough for you? It is not like rock-n-roll in the 50's at all. Elvi...

I cannot understand how otherwise seemingly intelligent people could say anything positive whatsoever about 'rap'. I remain so thoroughly unconvinced that even my objections are objecting. To my ears, it is the glorification of the most base anima...
What is more important source or preamp?
Not the speakers, I can attest to that!

Lector 7T MK3, is it really that great?
Comparing the Cambridge 840C to the Lector is no contest. The 840 is a great player for the money, but it sounds like a CD player; thin, forward, and shallow compared to the Lector. The Lector is almost a turntable. Almost is the key word, it actu...
New To Vinyl... Seeking Recomendations
Get a copy of Sun Ra's "The Magic City". It makes jazz at the pawnshop sound like, well, a bunch of old Scandinavian farts playing terrible pseudo-jazz.

Toe-in or NOT toe-in ??
Best to not listen to dogma. Every room is unique. You will know instantly when you try it. Ears rule over here-say.

My 2 cents: screw the sound quality and go for the best performances. Then get the best equipment you can to maximize what you love. It would be a real shame to select performances based on audiophile criteria. In general, audiophiles do NOT know ...

Warrensomebody: If you want some Webern in close-miked bliss, get the Robert Craft Columbia recording of the complete Webern. It has exactly the sound you are looking for. However, for the trios and quartets it is not my favorite. That would be th...

Here are a few:1. Harnoncourt conducting in 1965 performance of Purcell's "Fantasias for viols"2. Paul Zukofski playing Morton Feldman's "For John Cage"3. Arditti Quartet playing Anton Webern's trios and quartets
