Can't leave out The Living End by Husker Du.
Why Do ~You~ Still Play CDs?
I have tons of CDs, my player/dac combo sounds great to me, and I own everything that I listen to on my little system. Plus, I know what I like - I don't need a computer to create playlists for me. (I get ideas from books and publications for that.)
Cheapest but good cables….
I also vote for Blue Jeans cables.
Classical music newbie needs your suggestions
My personal favorite composers (in no particular order) are Mahler, Bruckner, Beethoven, Bach, Copland, Berg, Bartók, Stravinsky, Debussy, Chopin, Brahms, Schubert, Shostakovich, Mozart, Hindemith, Glass, Schoenberg, Prokofiev, Haydn. If I'm not ...
Candidates for best speakers in the $2000-5000 market
Vandersteen 2ce. Mine are still going strong after almost 30 years. I'm sure the newer version sounds even better.
Songs of debauchery and excess
Just in time for the holidays. Risque Rhythm: Nasty 50's R&B
Audiolab 6000CDT
Soix, The reclocker takes the incoming audio signal from 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/96 kHz playback, which seems to be one of the standards of streaming playback. In my experience the CDs sound more alive now (a more natural-sounding reverb, more...
Audiolab 6000CDT
I've used the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M and the Wyred4Sound Remedy Reclocker with my 6000 CDT for over a year, and I'm still impressed. To my old ears it sounds a little closer to 3-D sound than what I had in my budget system before the upgrad...
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
Twist And Shout by The Beatles.
Will a new Dac improve the sound?
I’ve used the following upgrades in my low-budget system for the last several months: 1. Audiolab 6000cdt transport 2. Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 200 DAC 3. Wyred4sound Remedy reclocker (purchased late last year) Total price: @$1500. A big impr...
Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience?
I’ve experimented with speaker wire for years. I haven’t had the big money to purchase ultra-expensive wire, so I’ve used mostly inexpensive stuff from places like Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. I’ve also used stranded speaker wire sold at Home Depot...
Describe your preference in a single sentence
The things that jjss49 and knighttodd mentioned describe what I'm looking for the most. If I were to add anything to their statements, it would probably end up looking like this: "Music reproduction that has great clarity and precision, a rich/f...
your first system-
A light green General Electric 300 portable turntable with speakers. My parents bought it, so I had no choice. A piece of crap, for sure.
The pope's rig?
I'll bet you won't find a vinyl copy of Too Tough To Die by The Ramones in his collection.
Recommendation for Digital Coax
I now use a Blue Jeans coax cable and a Blue Jeans toslink cable for my two digital sources running through my Wyred 4 Sound Remedy reclocker. Extremely satisfied with both.
