Assistance with Coincident set-up
Maril555,We really don`t disagree, my bottom line is how does it sound to you in your system. The only point I`m making is other have found that combination ideal,in your case it certainly wasn`t,understandable. I use the Coincident TE speakers an...

Maril555 makes some good points, and once again proves nothing will satisfy everyone all the time. That Frankenstein-Pure Reference combo did`nt suit him( HEY IT HAPPENS) yet gon member montrjay has had that same pairing for several years and is e...

Abill,Another point, the initial production CSL had 20db of gain and this was far too much for my system. the current CSL has 10db of gain which is just right for me. If you`re interested give Israel a call for his suggestion concerning gain choices.

Abill,My system is similar except I have the Total EclipseII speakers(possibly an easier load?) in a 14x 25x8 room that open into a 16x 25 space. I have no volume or sound pressure issues. However I do use the Coincident linestage which is a very ...

I sent Srajan an email last night and and his reply was very insightful. I thought those following this thread might be intersted.Hi Srajan, the APL NWO-M player is considered by many to be one of the very best digital sources, cost no object. Wha...
Is no preamp the best preamp of all?
I agree with jdoris, there are`nt any rules. It`s just personal trial and error for a given system. In my case I prefer a very high quality active preamp.

Goldeneraguy,The strange thing is the pro active lightstage posters don`t belittle the those who prefer the passive or direct route at all. I`ts just a choice based on what sounds better to you. The passive advocates insist theirs is the purer,mor...

Onhwy61,Hi, I must say I`m a bit surprised you did`nt get the obvious point Knghifi was making.

Thanks so much for sharing your Solovox impressions. It`s gratifying to know these speakers met or even exceeded your expectations. I`m going to the RMAF this year and hope I come across the Solovox or some other PHY driver speaker.
Heaven or Hell
Nice topic, state of mind and current emotional factors do have an affect it would seem. I agree with others above who mentioned good power conditiners. Since using a balanced-power isolation transformer the past 3 yearsthe sound is always very hi...

Grannyring,You make a very clear and rational arguement for the benefit and advantages for good quality active linestages. The notion that the sorce-amplifier is the ideal signal pathway is nice theory but as others have found out is not the case ...
