What is the best transport? Joncourage,I have`nt seen any "nays-ayer" posts, just people who are comfortable with what they have and who feel no need to change at this time. You`re happy with a computer based system, that`s your choice, who`s putting it down? What ever allows...
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Update,I got the RP tubes from brett yesterday but one of the tubes is nonfunctional(sigh). Brett says The tubes worked fine prior to shipping, so most likely damaged per UPS shipping. We`ve made arrangements with Sophia to replace and then match ...
Upscaling Speakers, Downscaling Amp...What to Do? Fplanner2010Your point seems so obvious to many following this thread.I realize ultimately people do what they want to do and that`s fine.
How do reference speakers rank to today's standard Agree with the opinions here. With the exception of overt abuse a speaker built to a high standard of construction and upper level quality parts, 11 years are nothing in terms of wear. Performance should be very good for many years to come. I`ll a...
Need efficient floor-stander for 2a3 Cfluxa,Thanks for your reply and explanation, this makes me very curious to hear the larger Tonian Classic 12.1 one of these days.Regards,
What is the best transport? For those who prefer to use conventional CDs the PS Audio PWT has memory processing. I believe this is a major factor in its ability to outpreform many of the expensive(traditional laser based transports).I`m sure computer audio based systems can ...
What is the best transport? Not evryone agrees that computer audio is'better' like most things in audio it`s subjective. If it suits you then that`s fine. Some folks have a large CD collection and see no need to rip to a hard drive, again simply preference. Who cares what JA ...
Upscaling Speakers, Downscaling Amp...What to Do? Curriemt1,There`s no need to get snippy, you said you made the"extremely "difficult decision to sell the VAC amps(correct?) You`re seeking a less expensive amp to match with more expensive speakers(correct?) and hope to maintain at least current s...
What is the best transport? Unless you always equate higher cost with higher performance, ericminer`s suggestion is correct. The PWT(memory buffer) is really a superb sounding transport and will be difficult to exceed with the much more expensive transports.
Upscaling Speakers, Downscaling Amp...What to Do? Well, you`ve already made up your mind so I wish you good luck. Since you `ve placed this in an open forum,I`d would defiinitely keep the VAC amp. You won`t equal that amplifier with the stated budget. The amplifier contribution is important(I`m n...
Best tube preamp ever I heard the Ypsilon PST-100 with the Ypsilon Aelius PP amp,VPS phonostage,Bergmann TT and the Tidal speakers. It was one of the very best sounding rooms at CES 2010.Only the Viva 845 monoblock tube amp with the Trenner-Friedl RA-Box speaker combo ...
Best tube preamp ever I use the Coincident Statement Linestage and my friend uses the VAC Signature MK2. I`d put these two up against anything else if the highest priority is purely 'sound quality'.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Maxmad,Thanks very much for your input. Our 300b amplifiers do differ and I have no doubts that is a significant factor in the sucess of one tube vs another. Couple that with different system components and it`s no wonder why there`s no universal'...
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Hi Phaelon,Well for certain we both appreciate Chet Baker and 300b amps. I`ve been very interested in the Royal Princess ever since I read Jeff Day`s review it almost seemed over the top in praise. Yet Maxmad wrote on this thread that the RP seems... |
