Ayre DAC vs Auralic vs Metrum vs Bel Canto Jcote ,I agree with your impressions.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR What`s class A3 and why is it unique/different from traditional class A?
PS Audio PWT - cd transport Jriggy,I`ve used the PWT with my Yamamoto DAC and the combination is superb.I feel the PWT is one of the very best sounding and very natural in presentation transports available. It will mate well with any good DAC IMO.
tube dacs vs solid state dacs Bifwayne,The DAC chip is important(no arguement) but 'many' various brands of CDP/DACs use the same chip yet sound vastly different. The notion that'all' tube DAC/CDP have subpar power supplies is just incorrect.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Auntjenof2,Congratulations with this new custom amplifier. This is why no component(regardless of price or reputation) can be called the 'best'.Personally I`ve yet to hear an amplifier that I`d prefer over my Frankenstein(so far). The addition of ...
tube dacs vs solid state dacs Shakey,I agree with you, there`s no way you can generalize that way at all.Tube and SS DACs both run the full spectrum from poor to exceptional in regards to power supply quality.
tube dacs vs solid state dacs I believe sound quality mostly depends on the output stage and power supply quality.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Auntjenof2,The RP in the Frankenstein is`nt remotely 'hifi' at all. Both will provide beautiful organic warmth that`s utterly natural. Neither tube will provide an over emphasized(colored) warm character, just pure and natural tone-body.If you want ...
tube dacs vs solid state dacs I generally prefer tubes when it comes to amps and preamps. With source-DAC/CD players I find SS vs tube far less important compared to the overall implementation. A good SS discrete output stage,no negative feedback and with a robust power supply...
Tubes vs Solid State Syntax,Your Wilson example is a good one. Higher load impedance seems more important and beneficial than just looking at a speaker`s sensitivity. It certainly seems the higher the speaker`s ohm-load, the better tube amps(in particular) will sound....
I'm on StereoTimes... Lrsky,I read your article and really enjoy it and your perspective(loved the pictures of Miles,P.Chambers and J.Cobb). I look forward to your next article very much.Regards,
Extremely well recorded jazz double bass? cymbals? Consider "Bass on Top" by Paul Chambers as it has both wonderful con arco and plucked bass."Parker`s Mood" by Roy Hargrove and "Finger Painting" by Nicholas Payton both feature very fine bass by Christian Mc Bride.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Gwalt don`t know that the 40,000 hour claim by AVVT and W.E. is true or not. What are you really buying with these 'old stock' tubes that still test well? you won`t ever really know their true history of use. It`s a risk some are willing to take a...
I'm on StereoTimes... Lrsky I `ll read your atticle toninght.
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR Western Electric would usally say 'up' to 40000 hours with the old stock versions. I`ve seen a number of post where owners have used their 300b tubes(various brands) for 8-10 years and they still tested strong.Specifically regarding the RP and Tak... |
