Tekton Double Impacts Offering an 8 ohm version of the Tekton DI is a very smart idea in my humble opinion. SET and other low power amplifiers should thrive with the easier driven speaker load. Excellent decision. Charles
Synergistic Red Fuse ... Hi Jond, Let me know what you think of Breau's playing style and music.Charles
Synergistic Red Fuse ... I will look into the music of Lenny Breau. He sadly had a short and tragic life, found dead in à Los Angeles apartment roof swimming pool at age 43. To this day rumors persist, suicide or homicide? Some similarities to Chet Baker's demise. Charles
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35? I can say that both of these amps represent good examples of high quality push pull tube design. The VAC has the well earned high status allure. I've heard the less known Zesto Bia amp and thought it was exceptionally good sounding.Charles
Synergistic Red Fuse ... Hi David,I hope you and your music loving mother are both doing well.Charles
Tekton Double Impacts Hi Corelli,I haven't heard the Line Magnetic SETs but I've gotten enough feedback from people I trust that the 518 ia, 219ia and 508ia are really quite special amplifiers.Yes I am very content with my system (going on 8 years). I was after a very...
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35? Jond, Agree, many roads lead to Rome. Personal preference for me is your amplifier design/approach. Class A with conservative tube operating points and conservative power rating. These types of amplifiers with stout power supply and good output t...
Tekton Double Impacts Hi Joe,I find this thread very interesting for the same reason. What apparently are truly high performing audio products at honestly obtainable cost with seemingly little if any compromise. It appears that the Tekton DI with the LTA ZOTL electroni...
Tekton Double Impacts Hi Joe (snopro),It's good to see you posting and I hope you are doing well. Are you still using the Frankenstein and the Hornings?Charles
Tekton Double Impacts Hi Al, Well, once you explain it that meticulously it does begin to make considerably more sense. That RF transformer is doing some serious work 😊My amazement is the 6SN7 is used in this manner so apparently effectively. In my pre conditioned m...
Tekton Double Impacts Folks I’m still baffled as to how an octal small tube such as the 6SN7 has the capacity to successfully manage a legitimate full range speaker. How is this tube able to provide sufficient current for a 4 ohm impedance load? I believe the listening...
Tekton Impact Mechans, On the audiogon Double Impact thread there’s discussion today about "successfully " driving these speakers with the 1 watt Linear Tube Audio Micro ZOTL. Yes, 1 watt via 6SN7 tubes.Charles
Tekton Double Impacts The Concert Fidelity 300b SET vs the LTA ZOTL 40 amplifier is a compelling comparison of very different topologies. Charles
Tekton Double Impacts This is a very intriguing discussion. Mac says his 24 watt Decware falls a bit short reproducing certain live recordings and believes more amp power would be beneficial. Teajay achieves 100 db SPL (That’s cleanly delivered) from a (signal tube not...
Synergistic Red Fuse ... Jond, Good comments, discussing the music and artists is what I've enjoyed most about this thread. Jond, Barney Kessel "Plays For Lovers " is an excellent compilation of his small combo group recordings 1950s -1970s. Corny title but a really f... |
