Running DCS Vivladi DIRECT?
Kalali,  I suspect that quite a few feel as you to no avail. The continued beating of the proverbial dead horse.Charles
Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
Hello Prof, I’ve enjoyed reading your thread this evening and find it both interesting as well as informative. I also grew up in a musical family piano, drums, trombone and I played the trumpet. This environment forever influences how I hear music a...
Luxman vs Pass Labs
Hi mizioa, You probably know this but I will state it nonetheless, you have to hear the Luxman and then decide. An Audiogon friend (with discriminating  taste/good ears) has the Pass Labs XP 20 and XA 30.8. He has been very happy with this pairing...
T+A elektroakustik HV Series Components
Hello Musicfx, I always enjoy reading posts from people who are genuinely happy with their audio components/systems. If people aren’t careful they can become obsessed with the equipment. The objective ( at least IMO) is to enjoy and immerse yourse...
Low Watt Solid State Amp
Last summer a generous audiogon member loaned me his D.I.Y. Nelson Pass  S.I.T. (push pull version 35 watts) amplifier.  It was well broken -in and I used it for about 4 weeks. It was one of the best sounding solid state amplifiers I've ever heard...
Best of the best Integrated amps in 2018
I've had extensive listening exposure (many long sessions over a 2 year period) with the Absolare Altius preamplifier and Signature 845 PSET  mono blocks. Superb sound quality! (Very expensive however) I have not heard their integrated amplifier b...
Best of the best Integrated amps in 2018
Jmac7, Based on feedback from experienced listeners I trust the Line Magnetic 508ia is a fabulous sounding amplifier. However I don’t believe that it would be the best choice for the OP’s Thiel speakers given their load characteristics of low impe...
Low Watt Solid State Amp
High quality lower power class A transistor amplifiers that come to mind ,Valvet Audio First WattPass Labs XA 25These will unfortunately exceed the 1K  budget (even ised).Timlub"s suggestion of DIY kit is likely to be the most viable route.Charles
Best balanced linestage/preamp for $4000 or less ???
Oem-wheels.  Yours is a rational approach.  I suggested the Atma-sphere MP-3  earlier in this thread as I believe that it's a top quality preamplifier that would serve you well.   Certainly in your stated budget range there are numerous very good ...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp?
So true Al and This is why for quite some time I've subscribed to the "weakest link" concept in regard to audio components/signal chain.  Every link along this chain is simply important.  Screw up any part of this signal path and you can't make up...
I hate biasing!
The Asthetix Atlas has a transistor output stage so there're no output tubes to bias. The only tubes are the small signal types in the input section of this amplifier. The Atlas probably sounds different from the ARC REF 75 but not necessarily bet...
I hate biasing!
Bifwynne,It makes sense to me that ARC is finally offering autobias.  I have both manual and autobias tube amplifiers and certainly do not hear any sonic degradation with the autobias amplifier.  In fact it's the best sounding amplifier I've ever ...
T+A elektroakustik HV Series Components
Thieliste, I believe that your reconsideration is logical and you’ll still have first rate amplification to drive the Thiels.Charles
T+A elektroakustik HV Series Components
Thieliste, Last I recall you were strongly considering the D’Agostino and Ypsilon. I can not imagine that you can go wrong with either integrated from Gryphon or T+A with your Thiels.Charles
T+A elektroakustik HV Series Components
Ricred1, Simple truths reveal pure wisdom, I’ve come to appreciate/recognize this. You are correct with your comments and observation. Listen and make your own judgements. Someone else could just as easily prefer the T+A over the Gryphon. There ar...
