CD vs.same CD ripped to HD
Good discussion. George makes ’very key points ’ in his argument that "ripped" CDs sound quality is not superior to the playing of the original CD directly. @hilde45 makes the case of being able to flip through multiple recordings without having t...
A phenomenal new CD transport-Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 transport
A friend of mine had a CEC transport (TL1)  and the PWT. The CEC was very good and the belt drive is a nice story. It didn’t outperform the PWT to either of us, just a different presentation. So not surprised that the Pro-Ject transport is preferr...

Hi @bigkidz, Yep, I understand.  The P,S. Audio  PWT has served me exceptionally well for many years. But, there's always something better to move on to. If I do make a change at some point I know where to go.Charles

@bigkidz,Thanks for taking the time to share listening impressions of the Pro-Ject transport. I know how well regarded the Metronome digital components are. Both you and Terry prefer the Pro-Ject to the highly regarded Jay’s Audio CD transport. Ve...

@amorstereo (Terry),Thanks for the follow up. I am not surprised by the improved sound quality. I can’t recall any example of a component with  a standard switching power supply that was not improved with a good quality linear power supply in its ...

Bricasti M3 vs. Holo Audio May vs. PS Audio DS
I’d be extremely surprised if a 200.00 USD DAC has the same quality chassis construction, power supply, part quality and analogue output stage  (Also well thought out I/V conversion) implementation as a 4 figure priced DAC/CD player. All of these ...
What do $2500 speaker cables sound like?
@devilboy, Good additional point and further incentive if someone like @jumia truly wants to sort out the issue of cable performance/sound quality. The opportunity and resources are readily available. Charles
What do $2500 speaker cables sound like?
@jumia, Reading your comments it difficult to ascertain how interested you are in exploring your inquiry. As several posters have wisely suggested, you can essentially "rent" /audition cables of interest via the cable company. They are very good a...
Need recommendations for 20' speaker cable
@devilboy, Congratulations on acquiring the Rethm Bhaava speakers. I know that they are high sensitivity and an easy to drive impedance load. Are you considering a low power tube amplifier or happy and content with the First Watt F7?Charles

Hi @stephendunn, I always appreciate your listening impressions and comments on this forum. I tend to fall in line with riaa_award and his comments regarding Steve Huff. He seems like a nice guy but his reviews of audio products do tend to  fit th...

CD v Streamed
@duckworp, I appreciate your comments.  In fairness, George has been quite consistent in pointing out that the fundamental issue is streaming providers opting to stream the more compressed "mastered"  versions of recordings. Simply correcting this...
