Denon | 110th Anniversary | Silver-Graphite Headshell and DL103
Not flat or not up to 65kHz? Each 103 is different in channel output, even new production, this is why Zu Audio divine them in 2 or even 3 grades. But according to manual only discontinued “D” version can reproduce high frequency up to 65k (becaus...

And don't forget that you can't use dynamic compliance measured at 100Hz (all Japanese cartridges) for calculations! All calculations must be made with 10Hz compliance figure only. So the compliance must be converted first from 100Hz to 10Hz. Japa...

All cartridges are:-Hight compliance-Mid compliance-Low compliance 1) Most of the LOMC are low or mid compliance (very few MC are high compliance like Ortofon MC2000 for example) *A low compliance cartridges must be used with superheavy tonearms.2...

But even this Denon DL-103D is not easy to find nowadays! I remember some old posts on audiogon about US Denon and their old stock of 103D, but it’s all gone. It was introduced in 1977 and discontinued about 20 years later. The main feature is fla...

I must admit the comparison between a high class toneams is very subjective and should not be taken seriously (at least for beginner), unless a buyer compare by himself in his own system with his own records. The key point is a CARTRIDGE, it must ...

I think the new shell is nice for all Denon cartridges, but since the overhang is adjustable it can be used for all cartridges (if a cartridge body is not wider than 103).

I can't disagree more, because I'm still searching for the "best" cartridge and I tried over 60 of them (new and old, mm/mi and mc). Using 4 different tonearms is better than using one. It was an illusion that I could use one great cartridge on on...

I don’t think it’s heavy, the mass given for a DL-103 + Shell. Definitely not plastic like it was over 40 years ago. But the price is too high for a combo, this is why I’d like to buy just headshell, hope after anniversary adition they will make i...

Removable headshell is amazing option! I didn’t damage any cartridge on Reed 3P (without removable shell), but it’s a challenge to swap carts on such arms. If you want to use just one cartridge then it’s ok. But I got many cartridges and many tone...
Turntable mat journey
Your turntable is way different than all my 6 turntables. My choice: The Mat from Sakura Systems, SAEC SS-300, MICRO SEIKI CU-180 ... New The Mat is much thinner than discontinued BA mats. Used The Mat is what you could try to find for 30-50% less...

Torture test for a TT rig!
The amplitude of 1812 (cannon shots) does not exist in real music, so why do you use it as a test for a low compliance cartridge? Do you expect it to track like 30cu MM? You can use Hi-Fi News Test LP, but even those last 2 bands are extreme test ...
